Oh yeah its monday, a day where everyone gets busy extraordinarily to get rid of poverty, over here we take monday very serious and i am guessing its the same everywhere, to exterminate poverty, you need to take monday serious...

Today was a very hectic day indeed, after pulling a morning shift in my offline work, got back home and decided to rest only to wake up with body aches, but now am fine, waking up and thinking about what post made me realize this same feeling i had then when i was helping out a friend, it was very stressful for me to cope then but what kept me going was this phrase:

"A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED"....

This phrase was my watch word, in short let me share the story of being a good samaritan...join me as i take you on a tour of how i was a friend indeed...

     A GOOD SAMARITAN.......

It was a very beautiful moment back then when i was in high school, it was 2018/2019, i have always been someone who is known to be jovial, playful and also mindful of friends i keep so that i won't experience any academical setbacks because of my wrong play time...

I was mostly alone during breaks and doing the best i could, i was somehow one of the topper of my school, so to maintain that position i need to cut back on some things i know will hinder my positive academic performance, and then i had a friend from school but he left my school to another school but he has problem understanding and learning with crowds but i take my time to help him in the little way i can until he left for another school...

He left to another school but still having the same problem of learning with the crowds and he was preparing for the SSCE at that moment, we were in SS2 then but his parents wanted him to take the examination so he could go to higher institution...

He was having that problem and one day, i decided to check up on my friend and see his well being only to see him finding it difficult to study and even him with books was just so strange and as his friend, i ran to him greeting his mum and sat down with him for an hour going through past questions, i was explaining as i was working it until i gave him an example and he got it on first trial....

His mum seeing that was so happy and impressed, i packed up to leave there and go home and i saw him standing up and going inside only to hear his mum call out to me...

I went inside and sat beside her and she said
thank you for coming to help your friend out today and I am happy he grasp what you explained to him but please can you always come here and tutor him as he will be writing SSCE in some months????

I sat down and was telling her how busy I was as I am the last kid of the house with so many responsibilities like fetching water, Washing plate, attending lessons , doing assignments and other home chores everyday and that I am not always free on weekdays as it is for schooling...

She was sitting there and listening but out of the bond and love of friendship, I told her I can always make time for him on Saturday and Sunday, two hours with him, she didn't talk about paying me for it even If she had said she would pay me, I won't accept then but she offered to pay my Transport fare for every visit and then I said it will tutor him even when I didn't have the time, I go to rehearsals and wash on Saturday and Sunday is my resting time but I did so because of friendship....

After agreeing to be his tutor, I started the following week, we started from scratch, I meant I started taking him from basic economics, physics, chemistry, biology, English and mathematics and working along with past questions and daily assignments...

I started the first week, dished out some important topics from the WAEC syllabus and started treating and explaining with all m might and power, I use all form of things to explain to him until he gets it, and after learning a topic from four subjects we stop and take examples before I give him a classwork and an assignment for the next day to keep him refreshed...

I did that that for a while and he was improving and his mum was impressed, from the two hours promised, we finish at most it was 3 hours, because of digressing into other topics to make him understand, it was getting harder for me to manage my daily life but I never gave up on him, I kept on assisting him until he gets it and when I come the next day, I revise previous topics with him to see if he is on track or has forgotten 😃...

At times he forgets them and after different gestures he remembers and picks up.. I started ignoring some of my own self duties and responsibilities and my parents were complaining, I explained to them but it wasn't easy to cope with all the fatigue, stress, body aches and migraines 😣😣😒...

I did that for almost 3 months and exam was around the corner, he was grasping and improving, at times his mum doesn't have change to give me for Transport fare but I didn't hold back and trekked home and that resulted in so much fatigue but I still kept on doing my best ...

Finally it was the last week of tutoring, we did past questions back to back and he was ready to go face the examination and conquer, I helped for 4 hours in those one week and then it was the day of exam, he traveled to his exam location because it was far and after some months he came back but I couldn't see him because I preparing for the third term examination at that moment...

After a week, I went to him to hear the testimony of how well he did, he ran to me and hugged me and said almost all I tutored him came out and that he was very happy, he was just around me and very happy and his mum thanked me until we wait for 45 days for his result and finally the day came and he went to check his result..

He went to the cafe and checked his result, we didn't see each other for some days and when I saw him and asked him he showed me his results in his phone..

He had 6Cs and 3Bs, it was all a good result and I was happy my hardwork paid off and that was how I became the helper God sent to help him and after a while he and I got back together and then he also took JAMB which he performed averagely and he was happy to be sharing the news of his admission with me....

He told me he got admission into a polytechnic institute and that he would be going soon and I was happy for him and also at the same time happy that I helped a friend gain admission into higher institution..

In summary, he was finally admitted and he is doing well in school and I am guessing he should be done with his ND at the moment..

In conclusion, I became a pillar for him and after waiting for my own third term result, I had some errs in some subjects Which was as a result of not having enough time for myself but I still was among the top 3 and I never regretted the time spent on another being...

That should be very difficult, it is not easy to be a tutor to someone else while you have responsibilities to fulfill in your studies and at home.

Blessings to you.
