A lot of thoughts came running through my head this morning after seeing the topic of edition two prompt, I sensed mixed feelings upon the first sight of the topic because it is quite obvious that that moment education becomes free, the number of students that will get quality and sound education will be 20 percent out of 100, funny enough the 20 percent students will be sound because money is already involved while the remaining 80 percent student will get something we nigerians call BEBE OR SWEGBE EDUCATION lol( this means it lacks quality and dedication from teachers because there is no pay)...

The good thing about free education is that each and every children in the world and from each family will have the chance to go to school and that is going to make them happy because here in my country not everyone is privileged to go to school because of fees and bills but the population of children attending public school is massive and the main reason for it is because public schools don't take large bills and are mostly free for children of all calibers...

Making education free for everyone is indeed a beautiful and generous act and I won't lie to you all by trying to butter up my words or manipulate things but to be frank and honest, the moment education becomes free, the rate of students getting sound and quality education will crash drastically and there is a reason for that do you know???

20221024_142949_0000.png

The teachers teaching in both our public and private schools are all making a living from teaching and that means they teach and give out their best whenever they teach the class because in one way or the other the money they are being paid at the end of the month goes to family settlements and the moment education becomes free, the teachers now have no reason to give out their best and will always continue to come up with irrelevant excuses to escape teaching and at the end of the day they might end up quitting...

Out of 100 percent of our current teachers, the moment education becomes free, you won't get up to 50 percent teachers working again and those who decides to stay to teach without pay is because they are volunteering to help the future leaders of tomorrow in becoming great, teaching becomes a volunteer work and if you observe well the ones that stayed are not solely dependent on their salary as a teacher to survive, they might have a side hustle as a back up plan but to those who quitted, it is because they are making ends meet from the salary been paid to them and the moment education becomes free, all their hope comes crashing down...

I will not say I fully support this idea because even when this idea is enacted or pass into law, the same children they plan to help by making education free for will now have to deal with bebe education that is not even less than not even having education at all lol, teachers will now teach as they please and they don't even care if the students understands or not, they do not care at all because all they can think of is why will I stress myself on what they are not paying me for and that is the beginning of problem because not all the teachers will be able to give their best when education becomes free and it will reduce the rate of quality education drastically....

A lot of things will be at stake the moment education becomes free and that includes both the future of students and sources of income of teachers...

Let me answer the questions in the prompt and I am sure those people who followed me thoroughly from above already know my answers but to those who still wants it spelt out here is my reply...

  IS FREE EDUCATION POSSIBLE???

I am very sure free education is not possible and the fact is that there will never be nothing like free education when we are talking about private schools, the reason is because private schools are mostly run by a group of people who come together to invest in education and at the end they expect to make profits and out of that same profits to, they employ qualified teachers to take up different subjects which they make sure they pay them well and that to according to their level of education...

20221024_142949_0000.png

It is not always owned by group of men, it is sometimes a sole proprietorship business and profit is needed to give the students the best education they can have and that comes by employing good and qualified teachers whom they will pay their salary at the end of every month ...

Now think deep, for a sole proprietorship how do you expect him or her to pay his or her workers at end of the month when education becomes free, it is totally impossible for a private school to run a free education system...

Talking about government/public schools, it is possible to run a free education in this case because teachers are not being paid by a particular person, they are being paid by the government and just to make each and every children have access to this education, they decide to make it free by employing different teachers and at the end of the day they pay them from their own pockets (our money lol)...

20221024_142949_0000.png

Yoruba will say won fi owo abu se abu ni alejo lol, this means they are using our money to entertain us and satisfy our need lol...

In summary, the chance for a possible free education is 50/50 and that includes considering the private schools and public schools but private school mostly give out quality educations than public schools which is affected by overpopulation lol...

   THE EFFECT OF FREE EDUCATION...

The moment education becomes free for the mass, there will be both advantages and disadvantages but the fact is that the disadvantages supercedes the advantages and that is the fact because education will now be like a volunteer job...

  ADVANTAGES OF FREE EDUCATION....
  • Education will be readily available for the mass..

  • A lot of parents will be less burden by the bills and funds required to give their kids the chance to be educated...

  • Happiness within to children who desperately wants to study...

  DISADVANTAGES OF FREE EDUCATION
  • OVERPOPULATION...

  • TEACHING BECOMES A VOLUNTEER JOB...

  • LOW QUALITY EDUCATION...

  • UNEMPLOYMENT...

  • STRESS AND FATIGUE...

20221024_142949_0000.png

The above listed are the main merits and demerits of free education and it means all in the name of free education, a lot of children will have access to schooling and that is likely to lead to overpopulation, it will lead to excessive use of man power lol, imagine a case where you have to mark 500 students note daily lol, there will be low quality education which will affect the future of many...

A lot of things is going to go wrong because most teachers will quit and go into something else that fetches money...

In summary, with education being free, the level of quality teaching will decrease drastically and it will take a very bad turn in the lives of students and that is very bad, i am sure you have seen the population that comes with something being free lol...

20221024_142949_0000.png

In conclusion, the best way is to reduce the cost of education in nigeria and that will make education slightly easy for the mass, bills and fees should be halved or reduced a bit because of salary earners and then there will be balance in the education system, we can't expect it all to be better at once and that is the fact...

It is good that education is free so the less fortunate can access it.

Yes but let us think for the sole proprietors, those who pay their teachers from the money paid by students??? How do you want them to run the school without finance, going down the ruin is for private schools who runs free education but for the government it is good dear... Thank you for the support

Honestly, I am acquiring free education funded by the government and it really helps a lot of unfortunate students like me to learn and grab opportunities that only privilege can do. I just hope that free education won't be taken for granted by many.

Yes my dear and that is why I stated it is okay for a government funded school to promote free education but for the private sector it Is a bad idea to run a free education because they are paying their teachers from the profits of teaching and collecting school fees...

You are very lucky dear and I am happy for you... I just followed back

Free higher Education is really a beautiful and generous idea but just like you said the disadvantage is double the advantages. Forget it that the sentence (Free higher education) sounds nice and generous but the moment it has been implemented, that is when we would plead to pay so that we can have quality education again.

Because there is no pay, it lacks quality and dedication from teachers. I hadn't even considered that the lack of payment would make a difference between those who pay and those who receive free edication. Nevertheless, isn't this all about the person edicating them or even the school? Could they not do it for free or even get a subsidy from the state (though I doubt any state would agree)

I have stated that this can happen in the time of private schools because they have to pay their workers as well as provide basic amenities for their students, the chairs tables and board to use for them will be brought with what?

That is why it won't work out for a private school but for a government school, they take charge of all the bills and that too including the teachers salary which is better...

Private or public both want money, but they can be financed with donations or even by a fund. Private is just a fancy word for exclusive. In order to educate for free or even to make the school available for free, one must do a thorough research, talk to foundations, to the government, and so forth. There are many options for teachers, schools, and students in the world.
Sorry if this sounds like an argument I'm still sleepy and I need coffee. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜

You're right about the disadvantages in free education. Looking it from different angles, it good and have help lot of people. But when it becomes free, teaching will be a volunteer job and no one will work for not getting paid, orelse been operate by the government. I remember sometimes ago a state in Nigeria running a free education, I thought this was totally free until I heard the student are still paying little fee to the school. Though the fee might not get up there to the government, or the government itself requesting some levy from the school.
What I'm trying to derive out is that, even government free education is not free and disadvantages

Yes Indeed and that Is where I said it is mostly free when it comes to school fees and tell text books but other things are from you and that is it for government schools... Thank you for the support

Once education is made free it paves way for students with nonchalant attitude to step into the system and cause a mess.

Who wants to pay teachers of private schools if school offer education to the mass free of charge? How will teachers make a living of teaching alone survive?

Yes, the disadvantage of free education really outweighs its advantage. When we look at it things thoroughly, free education would allow more students to have the opportunity to attend school and this would lead to high population as in schools which in tend, would need more facilities to accommodate them.
