If there is one thing i have learnt from life in the past two decades, it is the fact that one has to be vigilant at all times because the moment one falters or waver, there are one million and one persons standing at the far back to take over your position or crush you be it academically or in terms of life's view...

The point is that there is competition everywhere, what is life without competition, what is life without dreams and aspirations and that is why we need to be wise when it comes to dealing with both those on the street and in the schooling system...

Loosing guard is not an option, always have it at the back of your mind that no matter how inexperienced you are, that doesn't stop people from going hard on you both street wise or in the school system...

To survive in this world, you need to possess different types of qualities because different situations and encounters with people requires different showcase of personalities/qualities...

For example, when it comes to handling people on the street you need to be a little bit reserved and more crazy because we have different sets of people on the street that are always looking for the weak and timid ones to prey on either in terms of prices or in terms of scamming, you need to look crazy and outspoken when it comes to handling them...

Leave about 70 percent of your book smartness at home and pick up a 100 percent of street smartness because that will be needed the most, the 30 percent of your book smartness should be used in handling the sensible ones and other normal encounters...

The fact is that different situations/events requires different manner of approach, it can either be handled by being a book smart or a street smart, just don't loose guard at any given time as this is the key to survive in this harsh world...

Without wasting too much time on my introduction, i will be taking you all into my main point of discussion on the topic; book smart or street smart...

         I AM BOTH STREET SMART AND BOOK SMART...

Thanks to the kind of life i lived as a child i have been able to handle a lot of situations on my own in the real world, i grew up in the hood and for this reason i have had many encounters with different set of people both on the street and even in the school...

I learnt a lot from my brother who attended public school for 6 good years, in his first year he was shown pepper and after the first year he became street wise and smart while keeping his book smartness at bay and showing more of street smartness, it was at this moment he started bullying his bulliers...

He taught me how to handle those on street by giving some STREET OT and that was how i was able to survive on my own and also because my look was intimidating enough so i had the upper hand thanks my aboki look...

The first time i made use of both my street smartness and book smartness was about a years ago, it was an encounter with these bureau de change (they exchange dollars to naira to the common men using different rates)...

March 20 2022 was a day i will never forget, that was the first time i touched both $20, $50 and $100 and all this was because of my friend's elder brother who came back from the U.S around that time and because i was tutoring his younger brother i got to see and touch the white currency...

He came back into the country to suprise his family, he came to settle some things in nigeria and after his sudden arrival, my friend and i took his things inside and before i left for home that day, i was given $20 by his brother, you should see me smiling from mouth to ears, it was like i was given a million naira hehe...

Before going home that day he told me the rate of 1$ was about #650 in our currency, i grasp that knowledge and decided to head to the bureau de change to convert to naira without wasting time, i got there and fortunately for me i got my first dealer at one sighting, he took me inside a shop where i sat and we talked about what i wanted to exchange and the rate to be used...

I acted like someone who has been trading before that time and i asked him what his dollar rate was and he said a dollar was #500 and i laughed in my mind and changed my position...

I told him i wanted to change $20 to naira and i won't be accepting the rate he is giving because i know how the market works and currently a dollar is #700 and that i still converted to naira three days ago...

He didn't want to comply and i decided to leave to find another trader and fortunately for me one was telling me he would trade it for me for #650 per dollar, i was willing to go to him and that was when he said he will trade it for me at #680 per dollar and that was the highest he will give me, in my mind i had #30 profit on each dollar...

We came to an agreement and i had him bring out the naira before handing over the dollar to him, he brought out his calculator and multiplied it and the total sum was #13600 instead of #13000 but i was okay with that amount and that was how i cashed out 13k plus that day instead of 13k...

I realized if i had not heard the rate back then i would have settled for less and be scammed by the trader but he was trying to play me smart and i showed him my own street smartness by gaining #600 profit from him instead...

In conclusion, i could have been scammed big time but i decided to play it smart with him and that was how i was able to get #600 in excess and all this was because i had the prior knowledge of what the rate of $ was at that time...
