Phew 😞, it’s been months since i last slept under a roof that is not mine, the last time i slept under a different roof and on a different bed was around mid last year or thereabout, and that place was my mentors humble abode, his place is the only place i sleep comfortably in, and that too without any distractions of any sort and that is because of his strict hygienic lifestyle and attitude, he is the type of person that can’t work and stay in a dirty environment, and staying with him for days gave me the peace of mind I needed to sleep comfortably, unlike any other place different from both his and mine…

Oh yeah i remember spending a night over at a close acquaintance place early this year, guess what friends?, I couldn’t sleep peacefully for many reasons and that was because of my phobia for sleeping in an unknown/unsafe environment, sleeping was hard for me that day that i had to keep the watch all night, and immediately it was day break I disappeared from that location immediately for a reason best known to myself…

When it comes to sleeping in a place different from my humble abode, i am always very cautious and careful for many reasons, and that is because of my painful past experiences sleeping in different places, these past experiences made me who i am today, it made me watchful and careful of how and where i sleep, it very rare to see me sleeping in a strange or new environment around 8-11pm, it has already become an habit of me to always sleep around 12-1am in both new and unknown places and this is all because of my painful past experiences…

I am sure you all must be wondering what this painful past experiences are for me to keep on mentioning it in almost all my previous paragraphs, well just a bit more suspense, i am almost there lol…

I had literally zeroed my mind on writing a post today because of the stressful journey i had today, but after spending a few hours in this new environment I’m now, i was forced to make this post because i couldn’t sleep well because of my phobia of sleeping in a new and strange environment, i have been keeping watch on everything around me like a watchdog. I almost fell asleep at some point due to fatigue, until i saw something that took my sleep away immediately and entirely, seeing this particular thing made me sleepless and right now I don’t think i will be able to sleep anymore this night, and this is because this particular thing is one of the things I hate most in my life, and it is also the reason why i don’t like visiting other people’s homes, same way i don’t really enjoy them coming over, I have my reasons…

It is also one of the reasons why i don’t like visiting and sleeping over at unknown places, there are only two places i have always felt safe and comfortable sleeping in, these two places are my house and my mentors house, any other places apart from these two is a NO NO for me, which means i will always be a watchdog throughout the night. what is that one thing i hate so much and is also the reason why i am always skeptical about visiting and sleeping over at people’s houses???, that one thing is non other than BEDBUGS

I HATE BEDBUGS FOR A MILLION AND ONE REASONS…

I am 100 percent sure i am not the only person in this country and world who hates bedbugs like crazy, and this is because of what they do us whenever they infiltrate our humble homes…

My first time experience of bedbugs was at a friends place, this happened many years ago, i was quite a kid but not much of a kid, i had to sleep over at a friends place that year for one reason or the other, the last thing I remembered that night was battling with sleeplessness and killing strange creatures on the chair all night, back then i never really knew what bedbugs are and how disturbing and disgusting they could be when fully infested in a place…

I remember telling my mum about my night the next day that year and immediately she took me out and took off all my clothes for sun drying, the next thing she did was to take a crazy look at my stuffs, she ended up sun drying everything i had worn the previous night, she then told me about bedbugs and since then i have always been on the lookout for them whenever i am out of my house…

She taught me how to recognize them at a sight, she told me how it smelt and how they looked like, she wanted me to be watchful incase i see any close by, and whenever i see any close by, my legs should be touching the back of my heads…

Over the years i have seen a lot in different places which include public transports and different homes, it got to a point where i named myself a BB HUNTER, and this was because i hated it with passion…

I have seen bedbugs on people’s clothing in a commercial transports before, i have killed many at peoples house in the past, and some minutes ago I killed some of them and ended up becoming sleepless, I am fully awake now and i have completely changed my location to a safe place but I doubt if i will be able to sleep anymore…

In conclusion, bedbugs are my worst nightmare, i hate them with all the veins in my body and i am sure you do too, so here is how is what we do neh…

Why don’t you slide into my comment section and tell me about your first bedbug experience, how you felt and what you would do if you were to encounter them again, tell me in my comment section if you have experienced them before…

NB: The images were designed by me on canva…

I hate bed bugs too, I bet I hate them more than you do.
My first experience was during a holiday period. The students had gone back to their various homes but most medical students stayed back in school because we were preparing for an exam. We were then all moved to one hostel and different rooms. Long story short, the new room was infested with bed bugs and I didn't know. Before then, I had never experienced bed bugs, so when I was attacked at night, I thought it was a mosquito, but it was more painful. I just doubled up my clothing cause I didn't want my sweet sleep to be disturbed. This did not stop the torment and I began to think out loud "what kind of mosquito is this" that was when the other occupants told me it was bed bug. I sha left the room the very next day to an uninfested room.
Bed bugs are the only things that has ever given me sleepless night.
