Delicious Semai Pitha from Mother's Hand.

In the list of traditional Bengali dishes, winter means the festival of Pitha Puli. And if that festival includes hot steamed Semai Pitha, then there is nothing else to talk about. This afternoon, my mind suddenly became a little nostalgic. I wanted to eat the ever-familiar taste of Semai Pitha from Mother's Hand. So I quickly cooked this delicious traditional Pitha.

The main attraction of Semai Pitha is its skillful preparation and the right combination with milk. These long-shaped pithas are made with rice powder very carefully and with the magic of the hands. Then, pure cow's milk is thickened with a certain amount of sugar or jaggery, cardamom and bay leaves and heated for a while. When the milk thickens well, these pithas are released one by one. The pithas are boiled with milk and become soft and fluffy and absorb the entire fragrance of the milk.

When the Semai Pitha was served in this beautiful bowl after cooking, its aroma spread throughout the house. Its beauty increased several times by sprinkling some raisins on top. It is as tempting to look at as it is to eat. When I first took a spoonful and put it in my mouth, a heavenly feeling was created. The combination of milky juice and fluffy soft pitha disappears as soon as I put it in my mouth. The taste of our traditional indigenous pitha is truly incomparable in the hustle and bustle of fast food or modern food outside.

In the busy life of the city, the joy of eating such home-cooked food is different. The moments of sitting together with the whole family and eating this hot Semai Pitha are worth remembering for a lifetime. Every spoonful seems to take you back to those golden days of childhood. The illusion and pure love that is in homemade food is not found anywhere else. In the cool afternoon today, the warmth of hot Semai Pitha completely satisfied my mind.
