😊Hey Battle Mages!
Welcome back to my untold secrets of a battle mage. This Season has been tough with top players bullying me on the LB😆 and draining my batteries to zero just to keep up speed. I am trying my best to not get consumed with buying batteries versus chest loots. Well with less than 3 days, it's even more terrifying to summon a battle.

The rating system hasn't been fair either, being matched against 300+ lower rating players, when you lose it takes a chunk off you, but that is another topic for another post😅. Can only Hope the RNG be nice and blesses with LGF SBs. I hope the battlefield has been kind to you.

I have so far shared my approach to Seven (8) Rulesets, here's the last one on CLOSE RANGE and I have come to introduce you to another. But, before I tell you all about it, there's plenty days left, so if you want to know other battle mages secrets and take part by sharing with us yours, simply visit 👉BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!.

Splinterlands seeks to sharpen skills by allowing players explore various strategies via rulesets. I have tried to study a few cards especially with the newly introduced rulesets, giving one more reasons to know what cards strongly suits them.

Before the start of any battle, each player is shown what ruleset is allowed in battle and it is extremely beneficial to read and strategize accordingly. The ruleset secret I will be sharing you to in this post is the COUNTERSPELL

img_combat-rule_counterspell_150.png

COUNTERSPELL RULESET implies that All monsters receive the Magic Reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy monsters that attack with magic receive damage back.

With this in mind players must consider the following;

  • Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker.^(a)

  • Magic monsters with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.^(b)

  • The Amplify ability increases damage.^(c)

  • The damage is reflected even if the attacker does not hit^(d)

Look who my opponent is and his display of just two cards, nice. But, a 100% win has been given to me as analyzed by SPLINTERTOOLS.IO, very handy tool that teaches or questions your strategy. I'll introduce you to the monsters and why I picked them.

⚔️ TEAM LINE-UP ⚔️

☠️JARLAX THE UNDEAD - SUMMONER

The great ☠️JARLAX THE UNDEAD, a 2-mana Epic Summoner who may not come up as striking but serves a very important role in low mana battles. This Summoner offers not buffs or abilities, tbh, I only had him on so i could take advantage of having more free mana to play around with. I guess that in a way shows it's importance on the battlefield.

DIVIDER D 2.png

☠️CURSED WINDEKU - MELEE ATTACKER

CURSED WINDEKU is an Anti-Melee monsters with the Thorns ability which allows it deal damage back at it's attacker, it uses same thorn to protect itself.
Being regenerative, this creature is able to Heal it self in battle each round.

👉WHY I PICKED CURSED WINDEKU

I envisaged that my Enemy will come at me with Melee force since it was a counterspell ruleset, players will avoid magic monsters to stay safe. This is why i picked and placed CURSED WINDEKU in front. To serve as an anti-melee. It's health Regenerative ability will help me outlast the enemies monsters in battle.

DIVIDER D 2.png

☠️CORPSE FIEND - MELEE ATTACKER

The CORPSE FIEND is a legendary death card. To gaze upon this monster is to stare into the face of utter Hopelessness and know that the End has come.

This cards attack type is Melee, a Legendary card and it is part of the Death unit. It also cost absolutely 0-mana to use in battle , as a result, it will be an excellent card for all, especially low mana battles.

👉WHY I PICKED CORPSE FIEND

I picked CORPSE FIEND because of it's zero mana, and as a Melee attack card. It would also serve as a distraction.

DIVIDER D 2.png

⚔️ FURIOUS CHICKEN - MELEE ATTACKER

The 6-star FURIOUS CHICKEN is not afraid to fight for their rights in the Splinterlands. This Chicken has the Enraged ability. FURIOUS CHICKEN might look little, but it's attack is lethal and can serve well as a distraction by taking the front line or backline enemy hit for it's team members, giving room for the next monster to gain some attack advantage.

This cards attack type is Melee, a Rare card and it is part of the Neutral unit. It costs absolutely 0-mana to use in battle , as a result, it will be an excellent card for all, especially low mana battles.

👉WHY I PICKED FURIOUS CHICKEN

I picked FURIOUS CHICKEN because being a Melee attacker, it can cause great damage even at a lower levels, not to mention a zero mana card. This card can also be placed in the back position.

DIVIDER D 2.png

☠️UNDEAD PRIEST - MAGIC ATTACKER

In fourth position comes the highly unlikely card, a formidable spellcaster 6-star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ UNDEAD PRIEST who can deal considerable magic damage to the enemy. It mainly serves as a magic attacker that can attack from any position. It's Slow ability will take away 1 max speed point from enemy, giving me some advantage. His Weaken ability will take away 1 max health point from enemy as well. If this card survives first round, then surely battle ends in next.

This cards attack type is Magic, a Rare card and it is part of the Death unit.

👉WHY I PICKED UNDEAD PRIEST

I picked UNDEAD PRIEST because I want the advantage of Speed and Health point over my opponent. I do not envisage him attacking at any point, just rather his buffs.

DIVIDER D 2.png

☠️TWISTED JESTER -RANGE ATTACKER

In last position comes the 7-star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TWISTED JESTER with an accurate range that doesn't miss it's attack. It's Dodge ability helps it miss attacks from melee or range attacks, while his Snipe ability targets range or no-attack monsters that aren't in front position.

This cards attack type is Range, a Rare card and it is part of the Death unit.

👉WHY I PICKED TWISTED JESTER

I picked TWISTED JESTER because of his Dodge ability, I figured my opponent will come at me with Melee or range to avoid the magic reflect, hence needed him in place. Also should my opponent come with range monsters, then damage will be done.

Without further ado, let us now enter the battleground.

⚔️ THE BATTLE ⚔️

  • The Enemy came at me with the Death element aswell, ENEMY-CONTESSA L'AMENT as Summoner. Enemy-BATTLE CURSED WINDEKU in first position, Enemy-SHADOW SNITCH in last position. Hmmm! This looks too easy for me but can never tell, so let's see what happened.

  • SUMMONER-ENEMY CONTESSA L'AMENT takes away -1 Range from my monster TWISTED JESTER.

  • UNDEAD PRIEST carries on to Weaken and Slow down all enemy monsters.

  • TWISTED JESTER launches first attack on opponents front line ENEMY-CURSED WINDEKU. My team monster CURSED WINDEKU waste no time to attack aswell. Taking away -5 Health points from Enemy.

  • ENEMY-SHADOW SNITCH strikes at CURSED WINDEKU and takes damage from the thorn ability.

  • UNDEAD PRIEST strikes at ENEMY-CURSED WINDEKU dropping it's health to 2. The damage is reflected back at UNDEAD PRIEST, enemy heals itself and strikes at CURSED WINDEKU but takes another damage to health again.

  • Immediately TWISTED JESTER strikes at front like enemy and kills it immediately.

  • CURSED WINDEKU heals itself and launches a deadly attack at ENEMY-SHADOWN SNITCH killing it immediately.

  • 🎉ALL TEAM let out a roar FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!🎉

A RECAP OF THE COUNTERSPELL RULESET

In battles that use the COUNTERSPELL ruleset, all monsters receive the Magic Reflect ability at the start of the battle. This means that enemy monsters that attack with magic will receive damage back equal to the damage of their attack. This can make battles more challenging, but also adds an interesting twist to gameplay.

To succeed in Counterspells, players should avoid using magic monsters or pick magic monsters that suit a buff need [Like in the case of UNDEAD PRIEST] or magic monsters with the shield reflect ability. Instead, players should focus on using melee monsters with high physical damage [like in the case of CURSED WINDEKU], as they will not be weakened so easily. Additionally, even though I didn't have a monster with this ability, but players should consider using monsters with the Amplify ability, which will increase the damage they deal and help them overcome their opponents' Magic Reflect.

It's important to note that the damage is reflected even if the attacker does not hit, so players must be careful with their attacks and choose their targets wisely. Magic monsters with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks, so players should keep this in mind when selecting their monsters.

Overall, Counterspells can be a challenging and exciting, requiring players to think strategically and choose their monsters and attacks carefully.

✅From this battle and my observation. These abilities played a KEY role, especially for a low-mid manna cap like this which I enjoy.

👉 The HEAL ABILITY Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round. 💡At lower levels, the Healing ability in the front position can go a long way.

👉 The THORN ABILITY When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker"> Reduced damage from Magic attacks. 💡CURSED WINDEKU was a great fir in battle with this anti-melee ability.

👉 The WEAKEN ABILITY Reduce 1 max health from monsters. 💡The UNDEAD PRIEST served this purpose well.

That will be all about my battle with COUNTERSPELL as focus. Thank you for stopping by😊.

Haha thank you so much, so encouraging.
Ah tbh he isn't the go-to card cause we like our summoners with all the big buffs. He does come in handy with low mana, enough room to add in 1-2 cards to help the team.
Looking forward to read how you approach this ruleset. One Love💗

I don't know why, but I really like Furious Chicken! Maybe it's because I used to have chickens and they really do have personality! Congrats on winning sis! Love ya much!🤗😘💞🐓
