Eagle and Flounder (fable)

Eagle and Flounder

Once upon a time there were Eagle and Flounder,
Nearby in water and on the tree next door.
Flounder was quiet and peaceful,
And Eagle was fast and harsh.

On one summer day Eagle
Decided to eat in water dive.
He thought that Flounder
Will serve a great snack to him.

But Flounder was smart and careful,
She examined district with attention,
And when Eagle tried to bite her,
Flounder deftly dodged and swam away.

Eagle, angry from defeat,
Flew to other birds for discussion.
He told about delicious Flounder,
Who turned out to be too smart.

"It can't be so! - birds said. -
Can't we fish anymore?
Let's decide, how can we outwit
Flounder and catch her!"

But Flounder was peaceful and smart,
She didn't want hostility and disputes.
She said that everyone can live,
As he pleased, and swam away to another lake.

So here we can live together
In peace and harmony, indeed,
If we respect each other,
And then peace will become stronger.

But if you watched the news
At least once in the last month,
You should have realized that this fable
Completely false, like other fables.

The original text was written by me in Russian. I haven't studied English systematically so the translation may not be ideal. The main work was done by Google Translate, I just corrected obvious absurdities, where I noticed them and where I did not confuse them with brilliant insights.
