Wind and Money (fable)

Wind and Money

In a distant country, like a fairy tale,
Wind and Money lived independently of each other.
Wind was free and unpredictable,
And Money were considered a symbol of success.

Wind flew freely across the land,
He wore scents, gave people coolness.
He played with leaves, herbs and flowers,
He didn't belong to anyone and didn't want to go anywhere.

Money were important and desirable,
People mined them with labor and carefully kept them.
Money bought and sold, counted and accumulated,
They had power and strength, ruled the world invisibly.

One day Wind and Money met in a field,
Their different essences clashed, as if in a duel.
Wind laughed and drove the clouds across the sky,
Money were safely hidden in a piggy bank.

They started arguing about their importance.
Wind said that happiness is in freedom and lightness.
Money claimed to have all the power in the world,
That they can change the universe in an instant.

At that time, a sage with a gray beard walked by,
He listened to the argument between Wind and Money and laughed.
Wind asked: "What are you laughing at, old man?"
"What funny thing did you hear?" - asked Money.

The sage did not answer anything, silently walked his way.
Wind and Money looked at each other and stopped arguing,
They began to work together, each did what he could,
And together they built a wonderful city at the crossroads.

Only after many years they understood that sage.
With one glance, he reconciled them, irreconcilable rivals,
And convinced them not to waste energy, but to work together.
It would be a miracle if he then said a few words.
Probably, the world would turn over from deep wisdom!
"No, nothing would have happened to the world," -
Said the young man on the road.
"It was my grandfather, he was deaf and also crazy."

If you think about it, there is even more wisdom in this story,
Than if old man endowed our heroes with philosophical statement.
Sometimes being silent is the smartest thing to do.
Better than any wisdom. So I'll shut up too.

The original text was written by me in Russian. I haven't studied English systematically so the translation may not be ideal. The main work was done by Google Translate, I just corrected obvious absurdities, where I noticed them and where I did not confuse them with brilliant insights.
