Online Shopping

One of the outcomes of the pandemic is the hastening of online shopping. It is the case here anyway. Nowadays, deliveries are a common sight. Even meals are ordered online and delivered to the house. What a great service for those who do not like to leave the house and can afford the extra costs.

I am still not quite into online shopping. My needs are basic and they can be taken care of by the neighbourhood shops which are literally just across the road from me.

However, I do need a pair of new shoes, and I was too lazy to go to the mall for a decent pair. Coincidentally, I saw this pair of shoes on an online advertisement. It was a pair I liked. Simple design, and my colour. The price was reasonable too. So, I thought I would give it a try anyway, although I know that buying shoes online is tricky. Various brands, designs and makes all contribute to a slight variation in size.

Anyhow, I took the plunge and ordered the shoes online. It arrived, and here it is. I had expected it to be in a nice shoe box, but they were delivered in this paper bag.

And here is the review of my purchase.

They are the shoes I ordered. Right design, right colour, and right size. Did I expect something else?

I have feared that the shoe size might not be correct. And, from the picture, the base of the shoes look rather thin. I was afraid that it night not have enough cushion. Here’s where Murphy’s law reared its ugly head. The shoes were indeed a size too small! I wore them for my afternoon walk, and I could feel the pinching of my toes, and there was no support in the base. Now, I have painful toes and soles! It is a bit disappointing for a pair of shoes advertised as running shoes to fall short of such a basic thing as cushion for the base.

I will have to give it a few more wears, after I have recovered from my pinched toes, to see if I can break them in. Otherwise, I have to keep them until my feet shrink enough to fit. When we grow old, our bodies shrink. You know that don’t you?

I suppose I did get what I ordered. Still, it hasn’t been the most satisfying online shopping experience.
