my journey to the Alphabet Land (day V)

My next post for the Alphabet Hunt challenge by @barbara-orenya. This time we had to find words starting with letter "V". Pretty easy task, as there exist a thousand of different adjectives starting from this letter.

v_letter.jpg

This is not a V-word, just a letter I found on the streets during my alphabet hunting. I could not simply pass it by! So, it will go as a bonus.

V — Veil

veil 2364.jpg

La viva la difference! Our cat using my wife's scarf as a veil on the photo above, and mica cap mushroom using last-year aspen leaf as a veil, below. Yes, this proves one more time that cats can be integrated in any wordpick... which is a good thing!

V — Vitamin

vitamin_5697w.jpg

Quite a coincidence -- this week my wife received her iHerb parcel with various stuff for our household, and I noticed a few jars labelled 'vitamin' standing right on the table. So, I received a mighty hint I could not ignore but add it to my post. Here we go.

You're loosing, you losing, you losing your Vitamin C!
The great song of the greatest band from 1970-es.
I suggest it will accompany you going thru my post.
If you like you may check this link for a live footage.

V — Vodka

I had this word right from this week started, it suddenly surfaced in my mind (Germany for BEER, Russia for Vodka, isnt it?), so last Friday I ventured into a dedicated walk across the local yards to find some props to take pictures I needed. I found a lot! And made this staged photo presenting the Various Vodka Species I've found.

vodka_5622w.jpg

It was rather hard to capture, since I dont possess a Polarizing filter.

vodka_5623w.jpg

The brands you see on this 'bodegon', are: 'Urozhai' (A Harvest), 'Belenkaya' (Whitee), 'Stuzha' (Frosty Ice), and 'Green Marka' (Green brand). If you are curious, I tasted only the last one, I am not a big fan of this Russian drink to tell you the truth.

After that, I vizited the local liquors shop named 'Red & White' (@dswigle, I have an intention to write an extensive #marketfriday reportage on it one day, when I will replenish my stocks of dry red wine for the mulled wine season). This time I asked a permission to take pictures and triggered the shutter only twice, standing behind the Vodka section. Well, what can I say... it is splendid, and having 50mm lens definitely is not enough to capture all its beauty!

vodka_5419w.jpg

In fact, vodka is a mixture of 40% alcohol and 60% water. All! The recipe is as simple as that, and it is unchanging. Everything else is small adjustments in the refining technology, and of course -- design, packaging, and marketing efforts to push the product out and sell it at a higher price, to position it in the most "premium" market segment.

vodka_5420w.jpg

Thats why we have this amazing 'vodka divercity' of various brands. The content of the bottles do not vary as much, as design, hehe. I try to name some brands you see in the photo, if you are curious: Soft Silver vodka, AG - vodka with silver, Old Kazan-city, Alpha, Whitee, Village vodka (malted), Archangelsk-city vodka, Drink House, Green Marka, Finnish vodka, Finlandia, Quail village vodka, Russian almaz, Starlei (Senior Lieutenant) vodka, Yamskaya, Bread tale vodka, Russian peppers, Beluga, Clean dews, Absolut, Talka, Russian standart, Medved (Bear), White Owl, Cranes, Squirrel, Khanskaya, Tzarskaya, White Birch, Daddys Yoghurt, Grappa (grape vodka), Nemiroff, Freeman, Morosha (cloudberry) vodka, Special Khortiza, Kalashnikov (haha! of course AK-74 is such a good brand, they simply could not leave it alone and not use it with vodka product), Nectar, Joker, Summum, Slivyanka, etc etc etc and on and on and on.

Uff!! Note, I did not fit all of the shelves into those two frames. Much more left... Now I feel my post is improved a lot, and I should move on.

vodka_8981w.jpg

Oops! and one more photo. Searching thru my folders for a Viking photo, discovered this image I captured a few years ago at my publisher's flat on the next day after his birthday party: six 0.5 litre bottles ot Talka vodka, and two cognac bottles. Isnt it lovely?

V — Victory

victory_9979.JPG

This is the Nika Greek goddess, which symbolises victory. It adorns the monument to the victory in the Russian-Turkish war of 1878 at St.Petersburg. And, of course, one may take a photo of two spread fingers - this sign also means victory, and this is an easier way if there exist no victory monument in your city :)

V — Viking

viking_4137w.JPG

Just something I noticed at the streets during my V-hunt. It was located on a car - might be a trunk, or a spare something, I really dont know. And below is a photo of my daughter examining collectible handicrafted tin soldiers. I remember that among these Indians, Cowboys, and Roman legionaries definitely there were a few Vikings!

_MG_8328w.jpg

V — Violin

violin_1300w.jpg

An old photo I pulled from my archive. I dont have a violin at home in my posession as @bengy, so can not take a picture on demand every time I need it :)

All the images taken by me, as always. This round I considered just two more words that also came to my mind, but finally didnt fit into the post.

ventilation / vehicle

So, theres no leftovers. All those are simple things (maybe, except of a viking and violin), and I wonder how many matches do I have this time?

Now I think its a right time to create an index to my posts for this great challenge.

Magnificent hunt Mister @qwerrie ! 😊
I would have never bet there are so many different Vodkas..! well at least so many different bottles and packaging and brands, but is there a big difference of taste..? I think I have never really drunk that beverage, maybe I tasted, but that and whisky, I was never attracted too...I was fine with beer or wine and that's all 😁

I love how you have illustrated the word veil...the two times...this is very original , kinda very you I suppose 😉

mmmmmeooowww!

happy you like it.
i am not a fan of vodka too, as I said.
last time i had a little rush of love to it, I used just to add it to a glass of juice. vodka is a 'Pure' product which - unlike whisky - supposed to have NO TASTE at all. so, basically all those vodkas have to be the same 'ideal vodka', i.e. 40% of spirit + 60% of water in the mix -- and no taste, due to a good cleaning, filtering and rectification. well, ideally.

Wow! That's a huge variety of vodkha you have there! 😮 I really think you could make an entire entry just talking about it in #MarketFriday. For sure @dswigle would enjoy this one! Hahaha! 😁😂

I enjoy your collection, with a bonus at that! Hahaha! 🤣

Feel free to admit that you didn't go to a store, but that you took the photos of the Vodka in your pantry at home 🤣

I would say Victory, my friend, you nailed this weeks challenge again and if Barbara didn't say so, I would have said that you have illustrated the word Veil perfectly cool 😁

The V man looks somehow like a nice guy, but maybe if he saw you taking the photo he would have become a violent guy 👊

I had Violin in my mind too, but to take a photo I would have had to visit my sister in law and I didn't feel like it 😂 lol

I would not have believed all the vodka if I had not been there and seen it for myself. I never ate a meal in Russia that didn't have a vodka bottle on the table, and I am not sure what people thought of me when I didn't join in the drinking.
The red bag is from Viking River Cruises . I have a friend in England who did a Viking Russian River tour and loved it. They advertise on many of the Public Television shows that I watch, so their symbol is familiar.
Beautiful photos and great words! I really like the shot with the guy wearing the V shirt!

I supposed that very first V was coming. That T-shirt is a lovely match for this hunt 😀

Quite attractive vodka names, and the victory statue is awesome!

It's good to see that you even noticed that Viking bag, man you are a true hunter 😃

Can we assume that Leftovers might come very soon?

Fantastic hunt! @qwerrie

Great catch and I like vodka the most! How could I not remember that 🤭 @qwerrie
I used to drink some, I tried Absolut,
Finlandia, Smirnoff......They are great ... You won't believe it, but I was thinking about the very words you put in ... I just didn't have anything to paint as a victory, a Viking or a violin ... 😉
And then I decided on something close to me ...

o! this is extremely nice, this is I call we are on the same tune ;)
( many times I feel the same about other entries).
by the way - if you take a selfie of two fingers that is a victory picture, actually :D
did you shared a post of your tropheys yet?
have a nice day

Yes, it happens somehow, connected by invisible threads 😊

I could have known that, but it wasn't interesting enough for me 😉

Yes, my catch is set

Have a nice evening 🌌

definitely not. vice versa -- I do not love it at all. if it comes to consume liquor, I go after cognac, gin, whiskey (in small quantaties). or ordinary dry red wine :P
