Russian coins (macro)

A few macros I did sitting in lockdown in spring. Money-money-money. Those are simple contemporary 10 rouble Russian coins. Of course they are not made from gold, and they are not precious (the nominal value for 1 coin now is less then 10c) ... but have a nice outlook, arent they? (I hope it is not against community rules to share this non silver/gold stuff).

Editing .raw files in PH or LR can do real magic to the image!

And this is a vintage copper jezzwa (too small to prepare coffee in it -- I own several ones, and use the biggest of them for coffee-making purposes). Ofc it cant fit all my coins, so its just one of the vessels I use. I house little 10 kopeek coins in it, and other cash like that.

This is image 'as shot', without any extra editing applied to improve the colors.

Another (wooden) box I use for coins storage. This one is decorated with smallest, light (and useless) coins of 1 kopeika value. At the time, one could obtain for this coin as much as one box of matches... but these times have passed. Nothing you can get for 1 kopeika, nothing at all. So, we used it for design purpoces... :-)

Thanks for stopping by! and next time

Lol,the Canadian penny doesn't buy anything either and was taken out of circulation years ago. I believe I have a 1915 20 Kopeck somewhere in my collection, I don't know where it is at the moment.

oops, somehow I didnt notice your last comment! sorry to answer so late.
it isnt copper -- is it a silver coin?
1915 was the 2nd year of WW2, for Russian emperor army it was a year of great losses and suffering a lot of defeat from German troops.
would you like me to share back a few pics of Russian coins (mostly roubles) that I adore?

According to Numista.com it is 50% Silver. It is the only Russian coin I have in my collection issued under Nikolai II, it is in lightly circulated condition and quiet beautiful too. I enjoy learning history relating to coins. I don't know much about Russia but the Eagle Crest is synonymous with the old Holy Roman Empire era.
Why not make a post and share it with everyone? And tell us about it.

exactly so! it was implied as russian tsars in 15 century started to consider the Moscow kingdom an inheritor to Byzantium Empire (i.e. Eastern half of Roman empire)
:)

blessings!

well, I'll be happy to. maybe I will blog it one day - I have an obsession about it, it stuck in my mind :P
but there is a nuance: I do not own those XVII-XIX centuries actual coins, or replicas, all the images I have got are from Russian ebay i.e. not mine... and I prefer to use strictly my own photo content for the blog. maybe that is a bit silly, and I just have to add my text, to make it 100% legit... so, let just count that among posting habits and priorities.

Yes, especially Precious Metal Coins. I guess I meant having real money in one's hands.

with all things becoming digital, people miss so much things ('now they simply do not do it like they used before') - letters... books... COINS.

theres a trend of making false replicas of old coins to sell them for cheap to collectors. which I totally adore (unless they are being sold as originals, with appropriate crazy price label, haha). there are so much great silver and copper coins of Russian emperors since 17 century that contain the spirit of epoch. I would love to obtain, keep and watch them well not everyday, but on regular basis :P
