Three spots - six takes
I wanted to select something for this week Photofeed Black and White photography contest, and ended up with these three captures...
At a fashionable district of the city. I did not like the color (it wasnt a sunny day) and tried B-W conversion, where the capture looses
all the pinky-gamma wonderland-esque feeling. What do you think -- which one works better here?

A piece of night photography this time. Shot at Vasilievsky Ostrov (another fashionable district of the city too). What you see here is a monument to the horse-drawn tram — whose wagon was converted into an appealing café for tourists. The idea is not unique; it has occurred to various people and, I am certain, has been implemented not once in different cities. People with cameras love to stake out this spot — and have good reasons for that. Quite a photo-friendly location with various curious #streetlife activities.
Немного ночной фотографии; снято в далеком 2023-м году на полтинник, без штатива разумеется. Что вы здесь видите, это памятник конке, вагончик которого превращен в привлекательное кафе для туристов - не уникальная идея которая приходила в головы разным людям и, я уверен, не раз была реализована в разных городах. Люди с камерами любят превратить это место в засаду - с полным на то основанием. Ваш выбор: цвет или чб ?..

And the last one for today, shot at Nevsky avenue - central street of the city.
A graffiti artist selling his artworks with St.Petersburg views and his fantasies. Tourists can watch the whole creative process -- and obtain the results. This time I cant say that color version has any sufficient inherent flaws that monochrome should "fix" - both takes are good and in its own right..
... but I prefer the B-W one; maybe just for a reason that it leaves more room to your own imagination to work. So, what will be your choice -- colour or monochrome?

It's always a surprise how monochrome makes images look like something from way back in time.
Well, yeah, thats true - I've even trained to do especial B-W conversion aimed to look like and old film. 😉
