wednesday walk at St.Petersburg

This is a post to go with #WednesdayWalk challenge by @tattoodjay
The weather was cold and rainy for the last week. and I am filling my post with leftovers from the previous October weeks, when the trees were still dressed in yellow gold. Now they have less impressive outlook - most of them stand naked, and the yards are filled with a huge amount of big fat black bags with all the leaves collected there. I hate this sight and this practice, friendly speaking...

Do you see a book in this woman's hands? No book. But it could have been one ... now instead of it - a smartphone and a pack of cigarettes.

Inner life of the yards... may be calm, sleepy... or intense.

Old lady in search on chestnuts. Not only children love to find chestnuts, as you can see in the photo above.

Wide-angle lens helped me to catch this.

Not everyone is happy with the scattered dead leaves. For some this is a lot of extra work.

Imperial Ethnographic Museum. The building looks impressive! We had no business there, just were passing this location... Hard to shoot cityscapes nowadays - everything is spoiled with wires and cars so much!

I especially liked the door. You know, doors are my weak spot, I like to photograph them every time I see something outstanding. And this one is definitely much above the norma, what do you think?..

On this walk I added a new word to my passive vocabulary: "chachechnaya" (in Russian: "Чачечная"). But I didn't go inside, so I can't give you 100% guarantee what exactly they are doing there, why they name it so ... although I have suspicions it may have to do with the word "chacha" (which means a strong Georgian grape vodka). Or maybe not... maybe they called it so for a different reason. Still, a good funny wort to use now!

The townspeople have not yet upgraded themselves to a warm winter clothes. In the photographs I may take tomorrow, everyone probably will be wearing warm coats and fur hats, and wrapped in lengthy whool scarves. Petersburg is a city of wind and humidity, so one need to be well insulated to go for a walk. By the way, this photo above I took blindly, with the camera hanging on my chest - @tattoodjay once asked to alert him when I include such photos in my post. This is portrait that my 16-35mm wide-angle lens is capable of producing 'on the fly' ... of course, if it hits the focus, otherwise the capture goes directly to the trash bin :)

Time to part now. Thanks for walking with me, see you next time.

Oh, such nice memories are bringing this post to me... I was also collecting chestnuts as a child, I miss it now. No yellow, red, and colorful leaves, either 😅
Beautiful photos @qwerrie

thank you, thank you. now we have !PIZZA -- can it serve as a decent substitute to the chestnuts?...

I was also collecting chestnuts as a child, I miss it now.

why so. dont they grow in the south of Europe?! I'll tell you more: he type of chestnut growing here, what we have, is a useless one (well... of course it is useful ... but only for decorative purposes!). and in the more southern territories of Europe there grow edible chestnuts - which is far much more interesting deal!

We visited Granada a few years ago, it was November...full of chestnuts, edible, so in the streets, there were many stands you could buy roasted chestnuts. That was tasty!!! Here, in the area I live now, just pine trees and palm trees, shrubs, and that's it ;D

In my childhood town, it was the not edible type, but it was collected for the animals for the winter (wild boar, deer) when they needed food. As well, we were playing with the chestnuts, making figures from them.
Thanks for the pizza :))

aha! then, indeed, that is it, exactly that type :)

Here, in the area I live now, just pine trees and palm trees, shrubs, and that's it ;D

in my area, it is also not the naturally growing tree, only in cases when the streets were especially decorated with it. we also love to hunt for unedible chestnuts, all for design purposes... and also fun. they are so beautiful.. useless beauty still beauty! 🍕 and keep one more slice for tomorrow

Great autumn portrait of the city ^^ .. by the way, how tall is the door? It appears like super large from the perspective you took that picture 😁

it is indeed very large. 'imperial-style'. 4 m maybe? I cant say, but the scale is visible on the 1st picture... anyway, it has a door handle on a normal human-usable spot, so deduce yourself. !BEER, beer - even tho its morning - for me the Friday is already in the air!
by the way, today is the last day to enter Barbara's #seasonhunt contest (this week was about mushrooms!)

Dear @qwerrie

I found people trying to recycle my photos, and republish them, where should I complain?
I found 17 posts with photos that belong to me personally.

?!! wtf!

well, recommendation is simple: alert hivewatcher account in the featured posts. let it kick shit from these asses.
NB.
also, if you dont use discord, I advise you to start doing so. discord.com is a great way of group communication, and Hive has an iceberg-size part hidden there. Hivewatchers have a discord channel, where one can ask help... if he is banned or have issues. it is a more direct way.

wish you well!

I'll make a post and include some evidence...
In which community can I share my complaint?

Honest, photographing macro insects is not an easy job, I have to balance my hands and hold my breath, and he arbitrarily recycles my photos 😔😔

Great post. The best ones: 4 (splash of the color, feeling of the undisturbed everyday life), 6 (deep feeling of autumn), and the pink hair (colors, emotions, atmosphere, composition, motion).

I think chachechnaya is about chacha, right. A new word for me either.

ho, ho!! than it might be a neologizm, if even you didn know about it (yet)
thanks for choosing your faves, and I will distributed even more !BEER on you, hope you will not be angry at me for this, tomorrow!

the 'girl with pink hair' - I am not convinced it is a great photo, its blind and random... but agree, it conducts motion and maybe even has something... in girl's straightforward eyes . and its completely unstaged -- if it is a sufficient virtue, then yes, then its awesome photo.
