Maintaining Consistency

One thing I learned all these years of being a self-critic, is to make yourself enabled in most circumstances, you need to be consistent. This could be a few hours routinely or even a few minutes, doing things practically— this makes the difference. Not the other way around; not even thinking about it but doing it in real time.

Deep inside, I feel like a consistent champ— with a lot of things in my mind going at any given moment. Productive things, I must say. But the problem is, they are all happening in my mind, I don't see them reflecting on my actions. More like that mighty eagle in the Angry Bird movie, it has a glorious past and believes the sparks are still there but it surely doesn’t know if that’s for real. All it is left with is excuses, countless of them.

Sounds like me, well, for the way I am finding myself these days. It’s actually the past few months, could be a year or more if I am brutally honest.
So, what’s the problem, I asked myself.

There are a handful of reasons I found but most of them point to my extraordinary ability to procrastinate. Even in a dire situation. It’s the indifferent trait of my aimless mind that disrupts everything I dreamed of or wanted to happen in my life.

That teaches me a lesson. Being a self-critic doesn’t go unrewarded to some extent I guess. So, the lesson— having a clear and achievable goal is what we all need to get the motivation to affect our true selves. Without a goal, that you really want to achieve, except getting rich or something generic like that, you are sure to fall behind your very own spark. Of course, you might wish to have loads of money, being rich of that kind, but how you want to be that— think about it. If you aren’t already rich enough, nobody actually is, think about the steps you could follow to become one, or at least get closer.

Work on your skills, update them, find ways to innovate, and merge them with modern times— that might be enough to get you a good start. Even if your skill matches thousands of others out there, keep honing it. Maybe your skill is identical to others, but your approach could be different, this could be more convincing than others, or worse. Find out what you are lacking, and try to fill the gap between your capability and current status.

It takes time, we all know. But only a handful of us could sustain the bitterness of undergoing the constant attempt to achieve something. Not all of us can be there, but let’s make sure you are not the one who is falling behind. The secret of being that person is to become consistent, like right now, from this very moment. Think creatively, make yourself the central point of everything, and let things revolve around you but don’t lose focus.

You will get it, slowly but surely.
