The Ink Well Fiction Prompt 117 - Chocolate Monster

On Saturday morning, the weather was so bright in the city of Bandung. Ardi and his friends are getting ready to go to Mount Pangrango to camp. Diki and Dini have just arrived at Ardi's house. They put in the things to be brought and they were very happy that morning.

"Okay guys, are you ready? Let's go"

Ardi started the car. The three of them were very excited about camping because they had not done camping for a long time since graduating from school. While in the middle of the road, they got hungry and looked for a restaurant on the side of the road, but couldn't find it. After half an hour, they found a restaurant for them to stop by and they will eat there.

"Excuse me, sir, we want to order food," said Ardi.

"Please, sit. What do you want to order?" asked the waiter.

"I want to order a portion of fried rice plus an egg and a glass of coffee" Ardi answered.

“I want a bowl of Ramen and a glass of tea,” said Diki.

"I want a bowl of soup and a glass of hot chocolate," said Dini.

The waiter took all their orders. Five minutes later, all orders were brought to their table. Then, the waiter asked;

"I've never seen you before, did you come from the city of Bandung?" asked the waiter.

"That's right sir, we want to go to Mount Pangrango to camp," replied Ardi.

“Oh I see, but I suggest it to you. If you see chocolate, don't take it or find a source of chocolate. That would be very dangerous.” said the waiter.

"Is it true? So what if we take the chocolate?” Ask Diki.

"There will be beasts that will prey on you" replied the waiter.

"Ha ha ha. Are you kidding? Or are you just scaring us?” Dini said with a laugh.

"I warned you, Miss. Don't blame me if something happens to you” replied the waiter.

The waiter left them. Dini just kept laughing remembering the waiter's words. Since she was in high school, Dini and her friends often camped in the mountains and forests but had never heard of such a thing. Dini thought that it was just a joke made by the waiter to scare the climbers. After eating and drinking, they continued their journey to Mount Pangrango.

From the restaurant earlier, it took another hour to arrive at the foot of Mount Pangrango. After arriving at the foot of the mountain, they parked the car, then walked to start climbing the mountain. While in the middle of the trip, it was already 4:30 p.m. Soon it was getting dark. So, they pitched their tent halfway up the mountain and started climbing back up to the top in the morning. The three of them have their respective duties. Ardi is in charge of building the tents, Diki is in charge of collecting firewood, and Dini is looking for springs. They did a good team job because they had experience camping in the forest.

While gathering in front of the tent, Dini called Ardi and Diki.

"Hey look at this" Dini said while taking out the contents of her bag.

"Where did you get this much chocolate?" Ask Ardi

"Do you still remember what the waiter said when we ate at the restaurant this afternoon?" Dini said.

"Yeah right, he said to ignore the chocolate you see, We will be preyed upon by wild creatures if you take the chocolate," said Diki.

"Calm down Diki, we've been camping in such a terrible forest for a long time, but nothing ever happens, right?" Dini Answer.

"But isn't that strange? How could there be chocolate in the middle of a forest like this? What about mountains? Isn't that weird?" Ask Ardis.

“Whatever, only bears and tigers are wild in this forest. Don't believe the chocolate joke the waiter said." Dini Answer.

Night came. Ardi made a bonfire and cooked dinner for them. In front of the bonfire, the three of them enjoyed the delicious chocolate Dini had brought them this afternoon.

“This chocolate is delicious, I will take it again in the forest. There may be more there” said Dini.

"Dini, I'm worried about you. I will come to accompany you” Diki said.

"How about you Ardi? Do you also collect chocolate with us?” said Dini.

“No, I will cook instant noodles for us to eat tonight. You guys go there" Ardi replied.

"Okay".

Upon entering the forest, Dini and Diki began to find chocolate and put it in their bags. That night, Dini got more chocolate than last afternoon. The chocolate they collect leads them to a house made of chocolate. Dini and Diki are surprised to see a house made of chocolate. But Dini was happy. She is a chocolate fan girl. Seeing the house made of chocolate, you must think that there are lots of delicious chocolates in the house to enjoy. When Dini ran to enter the house, suddenly Diki screamed.

"Wait a minute Dini, don't come in!" Diki said.

"Why? There must be a lot of delicious chocolate in it, right?” replied Dini.

"Isn't that strange? How can there be a chocolate house in the middle of a forest like this? Let me go first. I'll let you know when it's safe inside." Diki said.

When Diki started to enter the chocolate house, the door made of chocolate closed and all the chocolate melted. Diki is trapped in the chocolate house. “Hurry and run Dini!” shouted Diki. It turned out that the house did not melt, but turned into a monster-like creature whose body was made of chocolate. Dini panicked and immediately ran towards the tent. Dini kept screaming for Ardi. Ardi, who was cooking, heard Dini's screams. He immediately ran towards the source of the sound while carrying the torch. Ardi's eyes widened as he saw a giant chocolate chasing Dini. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Hurry run," said Dini.

"How can the chocolate live and chase you?" asked Ardi while running.

"I'll tell you if we survive the monster" replied Dini.

They were hiding behind the bushes. The chocolate monster roared with a terrible sound. Even though Dini and Ardi were hiding, the monster still knew of their existence. Because in the bag that Dini brought there was chocolate that came from the monster. Quickly the chocolate monster catches Dini. Ardi tried to fight the monster, but Ardi was blown away when he threw his tail at Ardi. “Quickly run Ardi, just save yourself!” shouted Dini. Seeing that the monster put Dini into its mouth, Ardi turned pale and ran to the foot of the mountain for help. In the end, only Ardi survived. Dini and Diki were declared missing since then. The End.
