Loh Contest #180 ~ Thrift Shopping Saves Cost But I Don’t Like It.

avatar

I’ve always thought that the Nigerian economy is the only one facing crisis and inflation but I realized it is everywhere. Unfortunately, some people can no longer afford the things they could buy before and it made them either reduce the quality or quantity they used to buy.

Also, the situation of things led people to thrift shopping. Thrift shopping is the act of buying clothes, household items or anything that has been used. It could be a bag, chair, fridge or anything that we can use as long as it has been used. Fortunately, some people get to buy those things when they are still very good and almost new which will be a bit expensive but not as expensive as the new one.

Do I like thrift shopping?

Honestly, I love it when people thrift shop but I wonder why I don’t like it for myself. You hardly see me thrift shop and I only do it when it is really needed for me to do so. All of the things I have are new and the only time you can see me use a used item is maybe when I was dashed by someone close to me but you can’t see me buy them with my money no matter how cheap they may be.

I have a natural dislike for anything that has been used. If you read my article from the beginning, you’d realize how good thrift shopping is. It’s very good especially when you get products that are as good as new. The fact that I don’t like used products does not mean I should discourage you all to buy them. A lot of people only wear used products and it has helped them to save cost.

I don’t know if later in the future I’d love to buy any product that has been used but as it stands now, I don’t think I’d ever love to buy it. Above all, thrift shopping is really good for everyone who wants to manage cost.

I have found many brand new items at thrift stores. Original tags still on them but WAY lower prices. Not every time but many times I will. I've found new $100 fleece jackets for $15 at the thrift store before.

View or trade LOH tokens.

@rafzat, You have received 1.0000 LOH for posting in Ladies of Hive. We believe that you should be rewarded for the time and effort spent in creating articles. The goal is to encourage token holders to accumulate and hodl LOH tokens over a long period of time.

True what you say, Venezuela is one of the countries with the highest inflation rates in the world and the situation was really difficult between 2016 and 2018.

It’s understandable though
It’s everyone and what they want
I know someone who just doesn’t like the smell of thrift so really wants nothing to do with them.

Exactly
I don’t like that smell too
You have to wash it over and over again before it stops smelling

some people get to buy those things when they are still very good and almost new which will be a bit expensive but not as expensive as the new one.

I was lucky once, got a nice branded dress which was almost new with a branded tag. it was cheap also.

I am not a fan of thrift shops either but sometimes when I find something almost new and nice at a cheaper price, I buy it. Here in Europe, thrift shops are very popular and sometimes if you are lucky, you will find something really nice...

We just have to take benefit of those new products that they sell for thrift

And that is perfectly fine. One could make the point that the time invested into this exercise is no real savings in a busy life and I'd tend to agree. It does tame that shopping habit and gets me to think out why I buy things I do?
Thanks for participating @rafzat 👛

I didn't know there was something called a thrift shop but I get the whole idea of these things. When I was much younger, I knew that my mom used to thrift shop for us, and we got all these clothes for a cheaper price. I remember that they called it bend-down select.
