My Introductory Post

Hi Hivans, I am new to hive. My name is Priscilla Akpannyah, a 200-level student at the University of Port Harcourt studying medicine and surgery. I hope to connect with like-minded individuals and learn new things from this platform. First, I would love to talk about how I learned about hive and my journey so far. Personally, I love doing things that are fun, My hobbies are socializing, networking, researching, dancing, listening to music, and watching movies, If you noticed, I never included writing because this was one of the things I hated doing. I preferred interacting with one another or talking to writing, and until now I have preferred phone calls to chats.

Writing was always a problem for me because I feel like your emotions, feelings, and tone of voice cannot be expressed enough via writing, but as time went on, I couldn’t help because it now forms the bulk of me, especially in medical school. So far, my journey has not been an easy one. I am a girl with a positive mindset and do not like stress; that’s the main reason I chose to study medicine. There is a saying that says, “Once you love something, you will find out that it becomes easy for you.” I know this philosophy worked for me. People think it is time-consuming to go through university for six years or more just to be a doctor, some say you will waste all your time reading medical books, while others say your social life will be limited. To me, it is a different story. At first, when I was admitted to the university, I wanted to focus only on my studies, just as my parents would say, “Priscilla, do not think of anything else but studying.” This was the mindset I had, but you would be shocked at what happened along the way.

ASUU-STRIKE.jpg
On a cold morning after Valentine’s Day, things changed for the better. I opened my phone to look at some text from my social media, and lo and behold, I saw a notification with the headline “ASUU decides to go on strike.” I immediately opened it up and read through it; lo and behold, all Nigerian students were asked to go on strike. This really sounded like a joke as I was thinking about what I will be doing aside from school activities. I knew very well that my mom would only tell me to stay at home and do nothing. I obeyed, for two good weeks, but along the long run I got tired of the eat, sleep, and watch movie life. I know reading this some people would say, “I wish,” but this was not a healthy one for me because I became unproductive and, moreover, I had no friends to interact with since my mom doesn’t welcome my friends' visits. Enduring this for the next month, I went to my aunt’s place to think about what to do next, and with God's help, I met a friend who was always on her phone for 24 hours. Do not get me wrong; I was always on my phone, but hers was extreme, and she really enjoyed what she was doing. The surprising part of it was that she was making money from there. When I heard this, trust me, I had to ask questions. There, she told me about Chaindustry.

She described the company as “a do-to-earn network offering value and digital services to its users and partners”. I was like, "What do you really do to earn money?”? She replied, “There are a lot from chatting, promoting, engaging, sleeping, and more." After a long conversation, throughout that night, I couldn’t sleep. I did my research and asked questions, and I found out a lot of things I never knew. I used to hear a lot about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology but was never interested in either. The next day, I went back to her, and she asked me to join their community on Telegram. Before then, I loved technology, especially robots and AIs; in fact, anything to ease my stress, up to the extent that I preached about it at home until it got to the point that my mom would give me a lot of homework and tease me to use my robots and AI to finish it fast. Technology has always been my passion. From this community, I learned so much and got exposed to the knowledge I was lacking. I took their free courses, paid courses, and community moderation courses, but there was a problem that took me some time to solve. The problem was, being a medical student, how do I combine these two, which are both time-consuming? I asked all my friends for advice, and they told me I needed to drop one and focus on the other, but I remember one quote: “YOU ONLY KNOW YOURSELF." Since college, I have always been known for multitasking; most of my friends would say “jack of all trades,” but I believed I could juggle the two. I have been doing this for some time now, and it has taught me how to utilize and manage my time effectively so it won’t affect my studies.

Finally, this is what I have been up to for a year now since I came into the technological space. So far, it's been a lot of fun. I've met a lot of friends, interacted with brilliant minds, and also built myself up a lot for what is ahead. I am now taking other paid courses at chaindustry and other academies as well, I just concluded a one-year training as a technical analyst on the crypto currency market. I believe and hope for other accomplishments, as well as to connect more with great minds and share ideas. Once again, I welcome myself to hive; let’s see what the platform has for me. Thanks.

Welcome to the Hive community @rainierprissy!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your password or keys; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!
