Visiting and getting to know the Yara River.

Greetings friends and lovers of adventures and outdoors and natural environments. This week I had the opportunity to visit the land of Manzanillo, in the eastern Cuban province of Granma, to share a few different days with my relatives who live there.

One of the things I like most about visiting other provinces is the possibility of going out and exploring new places surrounded by nature and somewhat removed from the city elements. So this time I asked my cousins to take me to visit the Yara River, one of the most important rivers in the province of Granma, which I had never visited before.

And so, on Wednesday afternoon, together with my cousins and their pet, we set off towards the river. Leaving the limits of the urban center, we were already entering the extensive and flattened fluvial-marine plain of the river, since the section we were visiting is quite close to the mouth of the river in the sea.

So far everything was going very well as we chatted and enjoyed the scenery. But at the moment we encountered an obstacle, and that is that the continuation of the path was impeded by a swampy area, which is characteristic of some of these plains in nature. And so we were faced with a dilemma: either go back or go into the swamp to reach the river. Not wanting to miss that opportunity, we decided to get into the swamp, which was a spectacle that caused laughter and scares.

It was a very funny moment indeed, and although we left with our legs full of mud, we happily followed the remaining path to reach the riverbed.

And finally, we arrived at the banks of the Yara River, and there we spent a nice time bathing in its waters, talking and enjoying this wonderful natural environment.

And so, we stayed in that place until sunset, and while we contemplated the sunset, we walked back happy for having shared that unforgettable moment with this part of the always interesting Cuban nature. I hope you enjoyed this experience. Kind regards to all of you.

Yes. There is nothing better than being surrounded by nature. We need to connect with it, because we are part of it.
