Hello friends. Yesterday I visited for the first time the Castillo de Atarés, an old military fortress dating from the time of the Spanish colony in Cuba.

This hexagonal fortification nestled on a hill, and built with resistant limestone blocks, is part of the former system of defense structures of the island, and has also been the seat of presidential guard, prison and military unit.

After a long time without ever having been open to the public, today it is a museum that offers the possibility to take a look at the past and the history of this impressive fortress, and to enjoy beautiful views of the Bay of Havana.

That is why I decided to visit this interesting site, about which I share with you some photographs that I hope you will enjoy. Best regards.

Hola amigos. En el día de ayer estuve de visita por primera vez en el Castillo de Atarés, una antigua fortaleza militar que data del tiempo de la colonia española en Cuba.

Esta fortificación de forma hexagonal enclavada en una colina, y edificada con bloques de calizas resistentes, es parte del otrora sistema de estructuras de defensa de la isla, y ha constituido además sede de guardia presidencial, prisión y unidad militar.

Luego de mucho tiempo sin haber estado nunca abierta para el público, hoy en día es un museo que ofrece la posibilidad de dar una mirada al pasado y la historia de esta impresionante fortaleza, y disfrutar además de hermosas vistas de la Bahía de La Habana.

Por ello decidí visitar este interesante sitio, acerca de lo cual les comparto algunas fotografías que espero sean de su agrado. Saludos cordiales.
