Consultas pediátricas: Importancia (Esp/Ing)

Siempre he considerado que las consultas con la pediatra son fundamentales ya que la atención médica a temprana edad permite diagnosticar lesiones o enfermedades. Desde que Alma nació ha estado en consulta, gracias a ello, detectaron la craneosinostosis cuando tenía 10 días y fue así que actuamos a tiempo ante la emergencia que se nos presentaba. Lamentablemente, su condición (según el neurocirujano) es genética, ella tiende a calcificar muy rápido, de allí que las suturas de su cráneo se cierren de forma prematura. Eso fue lo que arrojó la última tomografía en el mes de enero.

I have always considered
consultations with the pediatrician to be fundamental, since medical attention at an early age allows us to diagnose injuries or illnesses. Since Alma was born she has been in consultation, thanks to this, they detected the craniosynostosis when she was 10 days old and it was in this way that we acted in time before the emergency that was presented to us. That was the result of the last CAT scan in January.

Nutrición infantil

Por otro lado, para mi esposo y para mí ha sido vital buscar asesoría sobre la nutrición infantil, dado que la pequeña ya empezó a comer alimentos sólidos, aún cuando no le han salido los dientes. Por el momento le hacemos todo en pure, incluyendo la proteína. Antes de ofrecerle un bocado lo pruebo, para saber qué combinaciones o sabores le gustan. Por ahora ha rechazado el durazno, pues no estaba dulce. La estamos preparando cuando le toque degustar las frutas cítricas.

Infant nutrition

On the other hand, it has been vital for my husband and me to seek advice on infant nutrition, since the little one has already started eating solid foods, even though she has not yet teething. At the moment, we do everything pureed, including protein. Before I offer her a snack, I taste it to see what combinations or flavors she likes. For now she has rejected the peach, as it was not sweet. We are preparing her when it is her turn to taste citrus fruits.

Desarrollo físico y social

En nuestro caso, debemos corroborar que el desarrollo vaya bien, dado que los meses en cama a raíz de la operación limitaron su movilidad. Por ello, continuamos con la terapia de estimulación en casa como refuerzo a los ejercicios que le realiza el fisiatra en el Centro de Desarrollo Infantil. Al mismo tiempo, es indispensable conversar sobre el comportamiento social de la bebé y su proceso de aprendizaje. Alma ha respondido de forma satisfactoria a nivel cognitivo.

Physical and social development

In our case, we must corroborate that development is going well, given that the months in bed as a result of the operation limited his mobility. For this reason, we continue with stimulation therapy at home to reinforce the exercises performed by the physiatrist at the Child Development Center. At the same time, it is essential to discuss the baby's social behavior and learning process. Alma has responded satisfactorily on a cognitive level.

Las vacunas son otro tópico de interés que tratamos con la pediatra para brindar inmunidad a la niña, sobre todo, en estos tiempos donde abundan las bacterias y virus, entonces se encuentra expuesta a diversas enfermedades que podrían convertirse en mortales. De allí la importancia de la prevención.

Particularidades

Otra particularidad es que a la pequeña no le gusta tomar agua, cuando se la ofrezco en el tetero, la chupa y luego la escupe. Así que se la estamos dando con un gotero. Nos ingeniamos esta alternativa para mantenerla hidratada y que pudiera evacuar con mayor facilidad. Debemos velar por un desarrollo integral.

Particularities

Another peculiarity is that the little one doesn't like to drink water, when I offer it to her in the teat, she sucks it and then spits it out. So we are giving it to her with a dropper. We came up with this alternative to keep her hydrated and to make it easier for her to have a bowel movement. We have to watch over her overall development.
