Is obtaining clean water real?

"Water is life." How true is this statement? To me, it is 100 percent true because one can go days without eating, but going days without drinking water will be a bit difficult.

Scientifically, water is very useful in dissolving substances or reagents used in the production of consumable and non-consumable substances.

In our daily lives as humans, the benefits of water are numerous and cannot be underestimated. Water is used for drinking, washing, cooking, and bathing. You can imagine one not drinking water in this present weather we are in Nigeria or someone not having his or her bath after a long day of work.

Water is good for metabolism and regulating the body's temperature. In response to the prompt's question, "What are you drinking?" how clean is your water? This is a question I can't give a 100 percent reply to because I'm not sure how safe or clean the water I'm drinking is.

As a student, the water readily available around is sachet water, which is packaged in nylon and is also called "pure water," which is not so pure. This is the water you see around anytime and anywhere.

I live in a house where there is borehole water, and a lot of people will agree with me that it is safe for drinking. Well, it is, but I don't drink it due to some reasons. Sachet water is being produced by different makers, some of whom are licensed to do so, while others are just looking for a means of survival.

To be a little bit sure about the water I drink, there are some sachets of water in my state that people consume in large quantities. Some makers get positive reviews on their water, and this is the type I go for. Sachet water such as hi-merit, heritage, eva, and visleri. They are produced by well-known manufacturers, and people tend to be comfortable with their brands, although there are some others that are as good as the ones listed above. Because these ones have created a solid fan base, they get referred to by people.

I once bought a sachet of water and ended up using it for bathing because of how bad it tasted. Some of this water has particles floating in it, and some has an odor, but what can one do?

Another packaged water around is bottled water; this is just an advanced package of sachet water; it is always available around, though prices are different. I do choose this anytime I'm out of my state, where I can't access the above-listed sachet of water.

How do I know it is clean and safe for drinking? I simply follow my instinct and pay close attention to the water to see if there are particles in it before drinking to check the taste. Some of these manufacturers don't have pleasant names; sometimes I do check the name to choose the water I want to drink, though it is unnecessary.

STEPS TO TAKE TO MAKE SURE WE DRINK CLEAN WATER

I think the important step to take is for the government body regulating the production of water to make sure to visit all registered water-making industries and inspect how production is being carried out.

They should check for the source of the water being packed, such as a sachet or bottled water. Some are packaging well water into sachets and bottles for people to drink just to earn a living.

Not just that, they should also make sure to check the machines used in the production of water and the environment in which the production is being carried out. Many water-making industries are located in an apartment; you can imagine the hygiene of such a place.

Unregistered industries should be banned and locked up, and adequate punishment should be given to offenders, which will serve as a warning to others involved in the act to desist.

I do react quickly to things, which is the main reason I don't eat outside, which also makes me so conscious of any water I drink. This contributed to why I'm not drinking the borehole water in my house. First, the water is being used by quite a large number of people because it is horrible.

Also, the tank where the water is being pumped hadn't been washed for the past three years since I rented the apartment, which I'm sure wasn't washed before I rented the house. This alone makes me not so interested in drinking the water because I believe it might not be safe enough for me.

TIPS FOR SAFE WATER

The tip I can suggest is the homemade method of purification. Firstly, boil the water. Make sure to boil the water at 100°C and leave it to cool before drinking. This will help get rid of some germs present in the water, if not all.

Another tip is the use of a water filter. Well, I don't know how effective this method is, but I think it's safe to some extent, and this method can be adopted.

Another method is the use of chlorine and alum to purify colored water. As good as this is, it can also be harmful to human health when used in large quantities. It would alter the taste of the water and make it unsafe for drinking. Some of these packaged sachets and bottled water contain large quantities of chlorine, which makes them unsafe.

It has been scientifically proven that a human can go 1 full week without eating and still survive, but no ordinary human can go more than 4 days without water, it goes on to show water is life after all.

The relevance of water in our lives can not be overemphasized. Most of the water we clean are clean are not really clean, I think the home-made purification you suggested is the best way after all.
