The Dilemma Stage

The beginning of love is rosy when the two are compatible, they will do things together without any interference from the other. It applies to the case of Joan and James; they love each other to the extent that no one can come between them.

Joan was from Habakkuk town while James hailed from Amuloko's town and was very close to each other. Both of them met at Ajanlekoko town where they were working in the same company for their day-to-day living. Joan was a hardworking and industrious young lady who indicated that she would be a good wife material because of her diligence at work and she always supported James' plan for the progress of the company they were working with.

When it was time to go for a holiday, James went home to do it with his parents. But while at home, his parents called his attention to start his own family because he had started working and had nothing to worry about again. James said, alright I will try to do something about it.

Suddenly, his mother stood up and said don't try but do something on time because I want to see my grandchildren.
After the conversation, James isolated himself and thought about how he can make his parents happy.

When he returns to the office, he approaches Joan and expresses his feelings toward her. Initially, Joan didn't concur but after much pressure, she agreed to date him. That was how they started their love affair with passion and no one can do anything without the consent of each other. They were doing things in common, buying things together, eating food together and they used to come to the office together. Their friendship led to pregnancy and Joan worried about what would be the reaction if James heard about the new development.

Joan summoned courage and she confided in James about the pregnancy she handed over the test result to him. Meanwhile, his mother wants grandchildren all this while and this is a venue for him to present Joan to his parents as a wife to be. Although, when she disclosed it to him, his mood changed later he lifted Joan with a euphoric sound. James said that I could be a father and I would take you to my mother this coming weekend and Joan was relieved a bit, she said okay.

When they got to James' parent's house. James' mother was tidying up the living room while his dad was reading a novel at the library and they knocked on the door.

James' mother said who is at the entrance? I will join shortly, she opened the door and exclaimed who am I seeing and embraced each other. James, who is this Lady?

This is the bone of my bone, my heart, the one that you have wanted to meet all this while. Her name is Joan. Says James.

James' mother said do you mean what you are saying? This is our wife, look at her so pretty and looking gorgeous. Let me call your dad, I will not be the only one that will hear this.

When she reaches the library where his father was reading a book, she narrates to James' dad the news that their son brought and he was also happy to hear it.

James was seated on the sofa flanked by him, Joan his wife, sitting together and James' dad joined them in the living room with happiness.

James, my true son. You heard our voices, Gold will hear you when you call and it shall be well with you. Your mother had explained everything to me. Hey! Joan, this is your house and if my son offends you, come and report him, I will scold him accordingly. Says James' dad.

Joan was on her knees and said, thank you, sir, and ma for accepting me to be your son's wife and I promise you that you will never be disappointed. Says Joan.

Both of them left there the following day, and they returned to their place of work. After some days, Joan told James that it was time to introduce him to her parents and they decided to go on Sunday after church service.

When they got there, Joan's mother was outside the house discussing important issues with her friends. Joan and James met them on the roadside very close to the house, Joan jumped on her mother's neck and they exchanged greetings. But later they went inside to wait for Joan's mother to come.

After some minutes, Joan's mother entered the house and she called her daughter to one corner and asked for information about James. Who is this man you brought home? Says Joan's mother.

Joan responded "The man you are looking at is my fiance. I brought him home for you and my dad to see so that we can start planning for the wedding ceremony." By the way, where is my dad?

He has gone to landlords' meetings and I believe that he will be coming home by By now. Says Joan's mother.

They were in this conversation, Joan's dad entered the house and she ran to hug her father with a soft laugh. Joan said jokingly, dad welcome but you didn't bother to look after me all this while.

No, my daughter, not like that. I don't take you for granted because you are the only daughter I have. You don't know that you are a carbon copy of my late mother and your brothers are coming home often and often. I am very sorry for not checking lately, and I will adjust. Oh! Gentleman, good day. Says Joan's dad.

Joan said, an apology accepted. Sir, Ma, let me seize the opportunity to introduce James to you formally as my fiance. We came home because he insisted on meeting my parents to enable you to give us your consent and the date he would come with his family members for an introduction and engagement.

Joan's parents were happy to hear the good news and Joan's dad shook James' hand with joy. He said I am so elated to hear this news, thank you. But by the way, what is your name? Your names are not just only James, I mean your full name.

James replied, my name is Ajongolo James, I am from Amuloko Town and Joan's dad, James pronounced the name of his father at the same time Ajongolo Smith Cocoa merchant. James was surprised, so you know my dad.

Joan's dad said very well and his mood changed immediately and went inside the room. When he was leaving the living room, he asked Joan to see him inside immediately. But when they got inside, Joan's dad said go and find your husband elsewhere. Is not possible to marry James.

Joan squeezed her face and asked, What happened, dad? Why did you say such a thing? Because I am pregnant for this man already and I don't think this will work dad.

Joan's dad nodded and exclaimed! What did you just say? No, you don't mean it. You have to find a solution to this on time because we are not your biological parents. You are our grandchild because your mother was our daughter, immediately your mother gave birth to you, she died on the spot. Since then your father ran away with another woman and he hasn't checked on you not to talk of knowing that you are alive. You are like a brother and sister, Joan left her parent's house in annoyance.

When they were on the road, Joan and James didn't talk to each other until they reached their destination. James asked Joan about what her dad discussed with her because he observed that her mood had changed before they left.

Joan said, James! James!! My dad said that we can't marry each other because he says your dad is my dad. You know I love you and I believe that you also love me but I want to make a request we should give ourselves distance for a while to enable me to put myself together.

James was sobered and held his head firmly. So you are my stepsister, oh my God. No one told me. Both of them left.

The following day Joan went to the hospital for an abortion when she got there, the doctor examine her and advised her to leave the pregnancy because she may not have a chance to get pregnant again. And she said, "what do I do?"
