Cryptocurrency is a Gateway to the Freedom You Seek

Have you ever found yourself in a position where you have absolutely no idea what to say to someone? When your realities are on the same plain but it seems the other person isn't sharing yours? Lost for words, because the two realities are wildly on different plains?

This was me, two years ago, after having a word with my editor for a popular magazine. My editor was a nice woman, early thirties, mom, American, and from what I thought wanted to challenge me in the work that I did. She had two boys too so I felt a somewhat shared stuggle there.

Anyway, I had just finished one of my articles on men and the masculinity that defines us. I remember having a conversation with her specifically about the article in question. Her thought about it was that I should go and think about my, "white male privilege" because I seemed to exude quite a bit of it.

Now, I'm never one for instant knee-jerk reactions. I am always looking to learn and analyse new concepts and ideas so I asked her where I can read up about this white privilege concept. Something that I really hadn't been made aware of since she mentioned it to me. I'm also quite nearly a boomer too, so I'm not in with the new kid talk.

She told me to Google it. Butt hurt that I was, because I knew through her tone that she was being "off" with me I decided to Google it anyway and not have an argument just for having an arguments sake.

And this is where I first found my love affair with right wing YouTube speakers. Interestingly enough I didn't agree with everything that they said, but definitely on the points of Feminism and Intersectionality.

As the weeks moved on I began to get red pilled (sorry @sinistry) harder and harder and I realised that most of the platforms that I wrote for were a whitewash of feminism and really not what men needed to hear (or wanted to hear for that matter). So I quit it all. And I deleted my website. It's no longer there.

This sent me hurtling towards Hive long term. After battling with my conscience for several days I found @neoxian in Neoxian City through a random post of @xawi's and boom, the rest is history. I began my hive career -- and it has been a relative painless journey away from the oppressionistas of mainstream writing.

I've done a little digging here. Not just on hive but all over cryptocurrency. Why has the oppression crowd not been able to infiltrate here with their stories of woe and their, "I am more oppressed than you so you have to hand over your power" schtick?

Two reasons.

  1. There is no real institutional power here. And oppresionistas are nothing without that power.
  2. There is no other way to make it on your own in the cryptosphere without a basic understanding of demand and supply.

Institutional Power.

You have probably seen it yourself -- without the backing of bigwigs such as the admins of Facebook and Twitter shadowbanning and writing off profiles of the enemy, Feminists and their likes won't last very long.

They currently have the backing of the media, the government, the institutions, the courts, and god knows what else behind them -- there is no need to be afraid with that kind of power behind you. But in a world that only recognises individual power such as hive, there is no backup, there is no cavalry.

Your words have to stand on their own merit. And we know that doesn't last long.

We saw that play out on Hive in real time with that CryptoFinally chick. She was getting huge rewards on Hive and then Bernie zeroed her rewards because she wasn't interacting with the community. Angered by the loss she screamed misogyny and sexism but sadly, no-one came to her aid.

Rather than take that as a lesson to interact with us she left, making a big statement on YouTube about how sexist to women we were. Where realistically she couldn't admit that she was milking the reward pool for zero effort.

Demand and Supply

Demand and Supply is the antithesis of equality. For equality to stand on its own merits there would need to be infinite demand, and infinite supply. This is an impossibility. Countries usually realise this really quick if they haven't already, so to make it work they squash the supply and ramp up the demand.

To make everything seem equitable there is a false supply to meet the high demand. Think of it like this. If you give everyone everything they ever wanted then you would have a lazy workforce. To counteract this you would tell everyone that they, "must work harder" to produce everything everyone needs. When in actual fact the poor would get very little, with the bulk of the supply going to the Elite.

I lived in the USSR for 5 years. I saw how this worked.

So when you are one of those mad Feminists that walk into hive and believe that everyone should be on a level playing field, and as well meaning as this theory may be it never plays out well in real life. To equalise you must either take from the rich, or take from the poor. I'll let you guess who always gets the short end of the stick.

As much as they like to say otherwise Feminist theories almost never play out well in the cryptosphere. I've actually never seen a Feminist project or coin do well, ever.

It's the peace we aim for

So when you come down to hive it's the gateway to freedom from the oppressionistas. It's the freedom from government control -- if only for a small bit of escapism.

They don't last long here at all. In fact I think in all my time on hive I've never had to deal with anyone claiming that I have privilege, or calling me sexist, or saying that I'm a racist bigot. Most people down here (not all) I feel are tired of that shite too. Or perhaps I just swing in way different circles? I'm not too sure.

Who knows!

But one thing is for sure is that I don't get bothered much from them if they are here!

Do you? Let me know guys!

This is what I look forward to in the coming years. We are tired of the very stupid banking system and the value of money is decreasing with the passage of years and the printing of billions of paper currencies without interest.

Just more complicated procedures. All we want is a simple, easy system. All we want is a blockchain.

Absolutely agree there. I think that's also why the heat has been ramping up in recent years. The current banking system is near collapse.

I missed a lot of drama last year while I was busy at work lol. I checked her profile and it looks like she got cancelled here.

It's a reality here on Hive so it's best to ignore the trolls and myob. But even tech billionaires like Elon gets a lot of trolls. I mean he is too rich to care about sheeps lol. That's power!

This is what I love about this place. I'm usually too wrapped up in my own world to really notice how such agendas are playing out in the real one. The most recent thing I saw that compares was which ever Chapelle special talked about the alphabet people, referring to the LGBTQ (I think), which I pretty much decided to chuckle through and stay out of but this feels like a prompt to form a better understanding.

This is also rather difficult for me to work through. I do want equality... or at least I thought I did, but after reading this, I think I've been confusing equality with a level playing field. I'm not really sure how to reconcile that. I do think that society needs a bottom that one can't fall beneath, otherwise it seems we waste resources combatting the infections that arise from a poorly maintained body.

This is a lot to think about. I often try to think of things in terms of the cycles of nature in larger and larger scale. When you're zoomed in it appears everything is just eating everything else, but when you step back far enough it's all one big symphony of life.

So that brings me to this. Everything is eating everything because that's how energy is transferred to play the song. So maybe we can do better. Maybe we can get our energy directly from the sun or wind, and maybe we can all work together to achieve that instead of settling for eating each other.

And what about the song. Do we have any influence over it or are we puppets that dance across the keys and strings by the will of something else? If we can influence it should we? If the song of a cricket isn't the sound a potential mate wants to hear the extension of life that is that cricket comes to an end. Are we singing the song that works or the one that leaves us to die alone?

I don't really know what to make of these thoughts yet so I'm going to stop here. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts, though, if I'm not just rambling nonsense.

Edit to add: My apologies that this is all random and out of order, but if I waited until I got everything packaged neatly like you I'd end up just sitting around jerking it all day, and that can likely be taken literally as much as metaphorically, believe me, you. But I digress...

I have thoughts on the concept of privilege in general terms.

I half-assed a post about it some time ago that I won't recap here, but the short of it was I think I've been on the receiving end of white privilege. I had enough encounters with law enforcement in my younger years that I could have landed in a hard spot. I believe there are people of color out there who landed in worse spots for less. I've also spent the last several years delving into history and I think there's ample evidence to support the claim that there's a systematic caste system in our society.

This is where things get a little tricky for me. I believe the racism, sexism, and all the other -isms are really just extensions of classism, but that doesn't dismiss the perpetration of the individual -isms. There are racist and sexists and they do discriminate.

So, I guess this breaks down as above. The black kid and white kid don't inherently deserve equality in life, as that relates to skills, abilities, and personalities which are unique to everyone, but they do deserve a level playing field, in that neither should be over or under penalized simply because of something like color or culture.

This is a thin hair for me to split, so I hope I'm not droning on..., but,
getting back to history, that hasn't been the case on an institutional level.

So now that this is a reality, it opens doors for the opportunists I believe you're talking about above. They see something they can exploit and they take an idea, which in it's pure form is honorable, but twist it so that it functions in opposition to it's purpose.

It's the same thing we see with almost everything. Humanity invents a tool and someone weaponizes it. So, I guess my conclusion is I'm glad to be in a place that still tries to keep our tools in our hands instead of at our throats. :D

I actually understand all of this because it was exactly what I believed even two years ago. I thought that everyone could do better and work in harmony to achieve better things for.... everyone. I wanted peace, I wanted harmony, I wanted everyone to sing together as we all worked to a common good.

You know what killed it for me? Control. You can't control someone else.

I'm 41 now and I've seen pretty much everything a person can see. 20 years in Mental Health will do that. I'm sure I'll see more new and exciting stuff. Human nature is so diverse that I realised I just couldn't control crowds on that grand a scale. Think of it. 6 Billion people? (Probably more like 8 Billion now) all working together to achieve harmony?

I doubt it. I think the best we can come up with would be tolerance -- and even that at a push. You think of all the conflicting ideas and ideologies roaming around the world. Not even that but there are certain personalities that humans have that conflict with each other on the mere basis of existence.

Good luck with harmonizing all that!

I think for me the best thing we could hope for is Equal Opportunities. We used to have this. I used to work for a place that delivered this -- give everyone regardless of creed, race, social & economic background the same opportunity to succeed as everyone else.

But the choice is left with them. They can choose to succeed, or do.. whatever. You can't force anyone to succeed my friend. That's equality.

Lol... I think I just came to that same conclusion in the edit.

I won't repost it here but if you get around to it I'm interested in your thoughts.

Oh! I forgot to tell you, though. When I was talking about peace and harmony and stuff I didn't mean us now in this moment. I mean waaaay down the line. We don't have the tools or resources built and in place to take that on, which I think is what the hard bottom is for.

Over time norms condition us. I just think we should heavily emphasize getting those in place ASAP. It's not about controlling people, it's about having a healthy diet so to speak.

Living healthy doesn't mean we'll never get sick. It just means it happens less often and is less of a detriment when we do.

Okay, there's a few points there so I'll have to attack them one by one:

  1. On privilege. It's such a basic explanation for a complex issue. It's like having a General Doctor performing Brain Surgery. There are so many determining factors going into this that any form of privilege just doesn't cut it.

Perhaps in America it may have worked at some point in time but when you take it over to Europe then it generally falls apart. The really poor people over this way are the Eastern block Europeans and they are ghostly white -- so it all falls apart then.

Then slavery. What happens when we've all been enslaved to some country at some point in our history -- mostly white on white. American culture is so backward and often forgets to take into account the wider world.

But now? Yes, absolutely class privilege. That's it in a nutshell.

  1. Your thoughts on norms condition us. Yes, I believe this too - but remember, there will always always be someone that wants more for themselves. When we achieve true equality then the balance would be so frail that anyone straying from the thought-norm can change the balance of the general goals.

To counteract this countries in the past have disappeared those individuals - sound familiar?

I've added more to each each of the replies I posted last night so I'm not sure if you've seen the rest of them, but I don't think we're really in disagreement here. You're absolutely correct that "privilege" is too general of a term to fully envelope this discussion in its entirety, but I'm not trying to speak to everything at once. I apologize if I'm not being very clear. It's just a difficult area for me to navigate.

"Perhaps in America it may have worked at some point in time but when you take it over to Europe then it generally falls apart. The really poor people over this way are the Eastern block Europeans and they are ghostly white -- so it all falls apart then."

This is why I pointed out that what we generally see as racism or sexism is often really a class issue. Even when we still had institutional slavery in America there were some women and people of color who managed to accumulate considerable wealth, which, to at least some extent, immunized them from the injustices others suffered in that environment, including poor whites.

I'm not particularly educated on the situation in Europe so I defer to your knowledge in that regard.

"Then slavery. What happens when we've all been enslaved to some country at some point in our history -- mostly white on white. American culture is so backward and often forgets to take into account the wider world."

I won't go into it in detail here, unless you just want to, but I believe I'm of the opinion that we all already have been enslaved by capitalism, so race and gender don't really factor in, other than in those individual cases I mentioned earlier, wherein sometimes some people discriminate, but I feel like when discussing it from this perspective we shouldn't focus on that, because it becomes a different issue.

I don't have much to say about your assessment that American culture is backwards... I don't think I could find ground to stand on to disagree even if I wanted to. I've seen it first hand for a long time.

"[...but] remember, there will always always be someone that wants more for themselves. When we achieve true equality then the balance would be so frail that anyone straying from the thought-norm can change the balance of the general goals."

This is one of the parts where I need to emphasize that in the edits to earlier replies I feel like I've come to the conclusion that equality isn't the term I should use here. Your points about the difference between equality and a level playing field do resonate with me so I want to be sure to clarify that before going farther.

No one is equal to anyone else in general terms. We all have strengths and weaknesses unique to us to varying degrees, so the term true equality is a bit of a misnomer and I acknowledge that. I think we're more or less in agreement on that, but If I'm wrong keep correcting me :D.

However, I also agree that someone always wants more. This is where I get to try to split hairs again. I believe that's because that's the nature of things in this moment, as well as historically, but I question if that's the way it has to continue forever.

Case in point. I eat meat. I don't like the idea of killing for it, but I would if that was the only way to get it and there was nothing else to feed that particular craving, but we're moving into an era where we won't have to kill for it. We can synthesize it now.

There will be people who continue to do it the old way for decades, maybe centuries to come, but it's possible someday all meat will come from a lab. The people born into that era will have no need to hunt or kill for it, thus a new norm emerges. I'm hopeful that greed follows a similar path. If we get to a point where the norm is everyone has what they need, I think the wanting more will begin to dissipate.

Will it ever go away entirely? Probably not, and it probably shouldn't. Like it or not I have to admit greed has been the driving force behind many, if not most of our greatest achievements in one way or another. However, that doesn't mean it needs to run as rampant as it currently does.

I don't know if any of this tracks or not. I'm just a guy trying to figure out how to move forward through the world and one of the few plots of ground I feel like I can stand on is that I can't really take a hard stand on much of anything. Every time I do it seems I end up having to go back and re-evaluate based on new information so I find it best to be as fluid as possible when it comes to most things.

Thanks for the engagement! I'm really enjoying the opportunity to take all this in.
