Have a beautiful Monday, all my dear seamstress friends, may God's blessings always accompany you wherever you go and in everything you set out to do this week!!! I am happy to greet you and invite them to see a new handmade sewing idea.
And as you can see, I have once again made the decision to recycle the used clothes in my closet to extend their useful life. An old shirt, pants, sleeves, among many other items, can go a long way with a little creativity.
Literally we girls like to bet on comfort and choose light clothes that allow us to move more freely and feel less oppressed when doing chores at home. The fabric of this shirt, I honestly love it, it is soft and flexible, but it was already too stretchy for my taste, so today's idea is to transform an old ladies sports shirt into beautiful and comfortable shorts, to which we want to add a wonderful flower embroidery as decoration. With this idea you will be able to wear a beautiful and fresh garment, which provides you with the necessary comfort while doing different activities, especially on hot days and of course, helping to minimize the great pollution to the environment by giving old clothes a second chance. If you like this idea, I invite you to see the series of steps, where I will show you how to do it.!!!

  • Hilo y aguja.
  • Tijeras.

(PROCEDIMIENTO)

(PROCEDURE)

Paso 01

Step 01

We started this project by placing a well-stretched garment (shorts) on one side of the shirt that we want to recycle. Then we cut its shape and size half a centimeter larger than the mold garment, because we have to leave the seam space. We turn the piece and in the same way we cut the other part of the short. It will probably be a little smaller, but you should position it in such a way that you get the most out of the shirt.

Paso 02

Step 02

Now take the printed fabric and cut two strips the length of the pants and short and 3cm wide and with a straight seam with its respective finish on the edges join the short on the sides. This step is relatively optional, as there are large size shirts that don't require a binding so to speak. In this case, I needed my garment to be bigger, so doing this is a good option, it is also very decorative and a good way to combine fabrics.

Paso 03

Step 03

We make a seam again to join these ends to the other part of the pants. Then we sew the crotch area with a strong and resistant seam, which will make this garment more durable.

Paso 04

Step 04

Once this is done, we sew the waistband of the short by folding the fabric inwards approximately 2cm. And since it's about recycling, I use the straps of the shirt as a cord to insert it into the waistband and adjust the shorts, but if you have an elastic band, it's also a good option.

Paso 05

Step 05

The advantage of recycling a used shirt is that you already have the lower hems done, so, to finish and decorate this beautiful garment, we make an embroidery of the flowers by first cutting the petals of the patterned fabric that we used earlier. We place the design that we like the most in a corner of the short and sew the edges of each piece. We make a stem embroidered in double thread.

Hola bella!!
