I am very excited to teach you how to do my most recent handmade sewing work and for that I warmly welcome you to this new project.

The idea of ​​being able to convert or transform something that is considered no longer useful, into something very valuable, for me is an admirable gift that requires a lot of imagination, skill, but above all lots of love. She was fascinated and truly surprised, seeing the art of recycling in many tutorials, with countless objects and/or materials, also mentioning the beauties that can be made with scraps of disused fabric or clothing.

This is how the idea for this elaboration came about; This beautiful shirt printed with outstanding red flowers, was given to me a long time ago, honestly it seemed very pretty, but the constant use made all the rubber bands that kept it firm were damaged and I stopped liking how it fit me. So I kept it, thinking of one day repairing it, but it wasn't like that, I liked its print so much that when I found it recently, I immediately imagined my coquettish girl wearing a dress with this fabric. This is how I decided to transform this lady's shirt into a beautiful floral dress with bare shoulders and buttons, accompanied by a nice woven detail on each of its dropped sleeves. We start by stretching our shirt very well on the work table and I place a dress on it to first take the measurements of the skirt, taking advantage of the length and width of the shirt. We cut a little above the measurement, taking into account space where the seam will go. Once this is done, I make a vertical cut, right in the center of the front piece of the shirt and we separate.

Since it is a very large shirt, I place the pattern of the top of the dress on one of the sides of the shirt and cut the outline. Coincidentally, this shirt had bare shoulders, so I kept the same design of the sleeves to cut smaller ones, according to the size of the dress.

The good thing about doing something new with clothes is that you save a lot of seams, in this case the top pieces of the dress already have a seam on one side, so we only do the missing side seam. Then we separate the front piece with a cut just like the bottom.

We open both parts of the dress, to measure and crinkle the skirt of the same size as the part of the dress, you can baste or simply help yourself with some pins. Then I make a straight seam, keeping the pleats of the fabric.

I do the sewing to attach the sleeves to the sides of the dress, then we sew a hem about half a centimeter from the front to both sleeves. We introduce a thin rubber only by the upper hem of the sleeves to crinkle this part a little.

From the excess of the shirt, I cut two strips of 3cm, I fold it in half and one with a seam to the edges of both cut pieces, that is, the front parts. I forgot to take the picture, but we must make two straps that will go in the shoulder area.

I finish off this cute design by sewing 7 buttons down the length of the dress and carefully opening their respective buttonholes. I wanted to make a very striking finish to her sleeves, so I decided to remember old times, and make a crochet, embedded in all the edge of her sleeves.
