Hello.
I'm traveler @rbaggo
who is finding 'Humanism' in
'Capitalism'

It's my flight today. It was a small plane that could carry about 20 people. Actually, I was nervous because it was my first time on a plane with a propeller, but I didn't think there was anything else.

Today's story is about a trip in Ilulissat, a city where can see glaciers floating along the coast.

This is a picture of a flight from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat. Air greenland offered me cookies, drinks and delicious sandwich as an in-flight meal.

This domestic trip of Air Greenland allowed me to go to the cockpit and take pictures.

I was able to see the glaciers, outside the window. It was unbelievable that the glaciers floats right in front of the shore. I've seen it a lot in Iceland, but somehow it looked more special in Greenland.

I heard that there are so many mosquitoes in summer, so I had to prepare insect repellent cap. In Kangerlussuaq, I didn't see many mosquitoes, so It wasn't be serious.

By the way, when I got off the flight, I met hundreds of mosquitoes which were hovering around me.

A Danish guy sitting next to me said his girlfriend was here, so he was visiting her, girlfriend and he will ask her to give me a ride to downtown.

Thanks to them, it was a five-hour walk from the airport to downtown, but I arrived in the city comfortably. They dropped me off in front of a big mart called 'Perssifik' and left. Thank you.

I can't carry my backpack around, so I decided to find a place to set up a tent. I was going to go up to the rocky hill where was located behind of the city, Ilulissat.

There were sledges dog fell down and were sleeping nearby. Local people told me, never get near a dog! They are almost wild wolf, which have grown strictly by the law of the jungle and need a strong spirit. Because they have to have a cold winter. That's why it has a fierce wild nature. It is said to be trained only to listen to the owner's orders.

I thought that If I had a camping nearby pool, I can swim on a fine day.

But It took less than an hour to realize that this was a far-fetched plan. Here was the habitat of mosquitoes. The hostel was even not in a safety. If I didn't bring my tent, I would be in big trouble. It's happy to have your own space that doesn't bleed mosquitoes in the summer of Greenland!

I went out to the city after eating simple food. Then I saw a sign of a building, kayaking(PGI Greenland)! I have never tried kayakking, so it was an unknown marine sport for me.

The office introduced about their kayakking programs. I choosed last one, which is that can see the sunset with glaciers on the sea. The start time of kayaking was to gather at the kayaking office at 10:30 p.m. , change into a suit, give a brief explanation, and move kayaking in pairs. The equipment provided includes kayaks, paddles, suits, special membranes and aqua shoes that prevent water from entering the kayaks.

The cost was 180 USD for 2 hours. The cost was very high, but I was thinking that It would nice and meaningful for my first kayaking in special place!

It's 11 p.m., and the sun was about to set. Didn't I take a pretty picture?

I think I did a good job.

First, a team of instructors and assistant instructors explained how to ride kayaks, how to row, and the history of kayaking. Now it's made of plastic, and it's a bit wider, but the ancient kayaks were thinner and made of wood.

Now let's get going!!!

14 travelers with 2 instructors, a total of 16 people participated in kayaking. Some people had tried kayaking, some had never done it before, and the nationality of Spain, China, the United States, Australia, Egypt, Korea, etc. were all different.

Now that I think about it, kayaking is easier and easier to be alone... Double for two people is really hard if you don't have good teamwork.

By the way, It was my first time and my teammate was from Australia. He, sat in front of me, had a hard time. I actually was busy secretly taking pictures with GoPro action camera.

Ah!!

The kayaking agency said that they will take pictures with waterproof cameras, so don't have to bring the camera. But when I got the picture from them later, it was really not so unique. So if you want to take good picture, I recommend to bring waterproof camera. By the way, It must be fixed on your arm in order to not losing it.

The instructor taught us how to get up if your kayak was overturned and how to adjust the kayaking speed.

At the end of the kayaking, the assistant instructor approached to the glaciers and broke a bit, and then she put broken pieces of ice into small glasses and poured kaluah.

We dranks this special kaluah on a beautiful sunset ocean with floating glaciers? It's the best!

When kayaking here, the really important thing was not to go near glaciers. Sometimes glaciers fall apart, and because of their enormous weight and strength, when it falls, we can lose our lives.

On second thought, after Greenland, I spent too much money for this activity, but after all, I felt like it was worth it because it was a special experience to fill a part of my life.
