Ask Leo: What Are The Current Misconceptions You Get As A Crypto Investor From Non-Crypto Enthusiast Or Investors

Mere thinking about this misconception makes me laugh because there are different categories of misconceptions from different people. The look I get from some people when I tell them am trading crypto is sometimes funny, annoying and sometimes sad.

I can remember telling someone who called me one time to lend him some money that I trade crypto full time, you can’t believe that I spent the next 1 hour of my time listening to this guy advice me on why I needed to look for a real job and how to look for a real job. It felt so sad because if he had all these knowledge on jobs that “pay so well” why call me to lend him some money because his boss is delaying on his salary payment. I’m at this stage in my crypto life where I don’t have an ounce of strength to explain to anyone why am comfortable where am at on my crypto journey.

I have some friends that think am Leonardo DiCaprio from wolf of Wall Street because I told them I trade crypto full time. They think I spend my whole day in front of crypto charts, making crypto calls, calling people around the world for crypto information, probably having Elon Musk personal phone number to get some Dogecoin news. This is why sometimes I get calls from them with questions like “Do you think Elon Musk, will tweet about Dogecoin today”? Or “When do you think Elon Musk will make his next Dogecoin tweet”? 🤦‍♂️ Bruh!!! I have no idea, is usually my reply, am as confused as every other person in the market. I trade crypto assets based on utility and longevity, not based on short term gains.

Let’s move to my parents, especially my dad, I can remember in 2018 when I told my dad about cryptocurrency. This man spent his time on phone advising me why investing in cryptocurrency is like setting your fiat on fire. He talked about the risk and fears of losing all your money, this was 4 years ago though. My dad is not the only one that thought I was setting my money on fire, we still have other people that thought that investing in cryptocurrencies is a big scam back in 2018. The moment you mention crypto, you start getting series of advice and lectures on the risk of buying something you can’t see, feel touch or know their office.

Finally we have the people that think you are automatically a money printing machine because you trade crypto. They are not willing to learn crypto or know the basics but they think crypto is a money printing machine opportunity or rather a get rich quick scheme. Some of these people get this entitlement over your money, you get asked for money a lot from them, and when you tell them you don’t have spare cash to lend them, you get questions like “you trade crypto, you should have enough spare cash”.

While everyone is having this misconceptions about me as a crypto trader, am here on my phone trying to figure my life out while thinking of the next meal to have for dinner.

So tell me, what the worst misconceptions people have about you as a crypto trader or investor.

Someone once told me to look for a real job, same person who complain all the time about her own job.

I think she wants me to join her in complaining all the time about how stressful and time consuming my work is.

Actually I wouldn't call myself a non- crypto enthusiast but I feel the community has painted crypto wrongly in the sense that "Crypto doesn't pay off" majorly from our less tech parents but aside that "Crypto gengs have made it look like one straight way to heaven 😅" I don't mind dumping some little funds but having individuals think their money will multiply tomorrow is really weird.

Just me thinking this way though 🥰
