Having The Courage To start Over

Life can be so unpredictable and unfair, no one can see their future or tell what’s going to happen. The best we can do is keep trying our best everyday no matter what happens. Consistency and trying our daily best is the only thing we got. It’s honestly hard to start over after a failure, it takes a great amount of perseverance, willingness and courage to think of starting over again and then implementing it. Implementing those thoughts of starting over again is very courageous because while it’s sometimes easier to think it, it’s also very difficult to put in the work again. That’s why you find some people spending their whole lives thinking of starting again, but end up not starting again.

Starting again can helps us be far greater in whatever we strive to achieve. This is because, you have learnt your lessons in your previous failures and now you are ready to apply those lessons on this new journey. One person am very proud of is @ozohu who had the courage to start over with her Hive account after losing her @faithann account keys. It’s not an easy thing to start all over after working so hard on the previous account. This got me thinking, because I don’t know how I feel if I ever lose my keys and I can’t access my account. Will I have the courage to start over again, what will it feel like starting over again?

Some people get stuck in an unpleasant situation because the fear of starting over again is greater than the pain they are experiencing. This is what imprisons their mind,I have seen some people get stuck in a toxic relationship or work place because they keep dwelling on how long they have been in it or how much time and effort they have invested in it. Sometimes starting over can be therapeutic especially when you have great feeling that that thing is meant for you. You know when you feel it in your guts that that’s your destiny, no matter what challenges you might go through, it still feels like you were meant to do it, that’s another thing that can give you the courage to start all over.

I have had my little shares of starting over, little shares in the sense that, these are my childhood experiences in high school. Nothing big, am not ready to share my serious big experiences of starting over, so I will stick to sharing my small experience of starting over again. Most of us that schooled in Nigeria will understand the feeling of studying biology and how voluminous the note book is. In high school I had this strict biology teacher who never joked with having a complete biology notebook. It was 2 weeks to our exam and this biology teacher said that he was going to mark our biology notebook before we write our exams and that will be part of our scores in biology. I spent most of my high school years in boarding school so evening prep was a norm. After evening prep the day we were supposed to start preparing for our exams, I found out that my biology note was missing. I searched everywhere for that notebook and I couldn’t find it, I was mad, because exam was in 2 weeks and that notebook was going to be part of my score for biology.

I had to write the note all over again, if you have had a biology note am sure you will be able to relate to how voluminous copying that note all over again was. I spent two weeks copying that note and knowing I didn’t have enough time because exam was in 2 weeks, I had to improvise, I learnt to copy and also read the note. While doing that simultaneously, I realized that it really helped me understood biology better. At the end of the day I got scored for the note and also passed my biology exams. Few days after the exams a student returned my lost biology note and said he had mistakenly put the note in his school bag for more than 2 weeks, he just checked and found my name on the notebook. It was already too late to get angry at him because I had already copied the note and passed my exams.

But I felt great, I felt great because I had the courage to start over again, if I had spent my time getting angry and not starting again, I would have failed my biology exams that year and probably repeated it.

This applies to life, when we are determined to achieving something, failure doesn’t mean we should give up, we can start over again and this time we might end up becoming much more better than we expected.

Gosh this is so relatable. I'm starting all over again as a musician. I used to write and play every day, preforming whenever the school gave me even the tiniest opportunity. I was young and full of hope and I seized every single moment I could to reach my dream.

I had a really rough time as a teenager though, dropped out of school and gave up on my dream.

Thanks to the love and support of my partner @ZakLudick, as well as my friends and some fellow musicians, I am back on the horse and trying again.

It's hard though, at 36... starting from scratch. I do still have my 20 year old song file though, so I'm not actually starting from scratch. I've found a bunch of songs that are actually really great, and I finally have the opportunity to finish them and even perform them at open mic nights.

It's a start, and a scary one: not without critisism and sometimes even ridicule, but for the most part, the feedback has been overwhemlingly positive. It's odd how 1 negative comment can stand out in 100 positive ones. Now I just need to learn to filter that out and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Very nice of you to share this, am really grateful for this. It’s nice to see you build the courage to start over. I hope you are enjoying the process and don’t be under pressure. Good luck though

I'm definitely working at my own pace. Some days I can create for hours on end, and then there are days that turn into weeks, that I just cant, and I've realised that's ok. As long as I don't leave it for another 20 years! I'm just glad I'm no longer standing still, thinking about that song file gathering dust and my forgotten dreams.

I screwed up and had an account lost that was like six-plus years old. @nobutsd is still up too. I started over, not only on #Hive but in life as well. When I was forty-one, I lived under a bridge and had a lot of problems. One day, I had enough and did something different. That led me to Steemit when I was in transitional housing. I went to school and took some time off after making like 6K. I came back a few years later after school when I had some more time, and discovered it had forked into Hive. It is never to late to do something different I guess is my rambling point here...

Do you know what I just realized? I still have the keys to that account, I could post there and have my new account be the payout..... I bet the scammers would love that one huh?

You have done really great with this current account, you can let the old one go. Letting go is essential. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience

No truer words my dear friend. Consistency and doing our very best pays off in the end.

Arrrggghhhh! Having your biology book stolen 2weeks to exams is no jokes. Like from where do I start?! Lols.

That your fiend though. *Rolls eyes
