How The Tables Turn

Growing up, the dream was to be a corporate worker, working in an office, always wearing the suit and tie, with one hand holding a briefcase. Which was a nice dream because, this was what I was used to, used to seeing my dad waking up in the morning, wearing his suit and tie and going to work. Aside that, when you turn on the TV, you also see the same scenario playing itself. So yeah, that’s the normal thing to do, you can’t wait to be an adult so you can join them.

As a child, you don’t know what it feels like to be an employee, working jobs and trying to make money so you can put food on the table. You don’t even know what money means, or why it has value, you are just used to the norm of the world with no questions asked. Back in the days, before the year 2000s, even in some of the years of 2000s, making money can’t be done sitting at home, you need to get out there and get your hands dirty. You need to leave your house, be you an accountant, an artist, a hairstylist, an investment banker, whatever you are doing to fetch those millions of dollars, you have to get out there.

The computer wasn’t even as used or adopted as it is now, in a room full of people, maybe only 10% of the people in that room have a computer or uses one, I don’t it’s even up to 10%. It was not so widely used as it is used today, this made working to be much more physical and strenuous, and you are subjected to following the world’s norm of success. Which is usually going to school, studying to get good grades.

You are considered a very hardworking person if you go to the office everyday and work your ass off for that mean boss, to get that salary. But today, it’s way different, all thanks to technology. People make a lot of money off their phones today more than people who dress up to their office to work. People make more money at home more than what people who work regular office jobs make. This doesn’t mean that people in offices don’t still make money. But it’s way different now.

In 2021, we saw a lot of people make money from NFTs and crypto, either through crypto trading or crypto mining. An NFT investor, whose job is flipping NFTs celebrated the mansion he just bought within the space of 1 year, through NFT flipping, I saw this on Twitter.

Kids got celebrated for selling NFTs and mining crypto through the knowledge they gained watching YouTube videos. They made a lot of money, enough to get them through college, that alone shows how much we have evolved through technologies. Kids know about cryptocurrencies today, some of them know it way more than their parents. There are different means one can learn about cryptocurrency. These kids are exposed to various social media that gives them access to these information. Millionaires are not found in offices, dressed in cooperate suit and ties making millions, they are found inside their homes with their pyjamas, making those life changing money today.
