What If It Doesn’t Work Out?

Sitting under a shade having a glass of juice while talking to my friend who told me he felt lonely because he doesn’t love his job anymore. When I got the call from him, saying he need a self reflective movement about life, it sounded like a subtle depression, I didn’t hesitate to go see him.

Living in a country with extreme bad economy and leadership can have you questioning your purpose in life. As a young boy who was innocent in thinking and in life, I had a lot of dreams in my career and so did my friend, we went to the same high school. We went from fantasizing about having a great career when we become an adult to doing anything to survive and pay bills. I had the dream of becoming a lawyer, or a chemist when I was a lot younger, my friend thought of becoming a poet. This was a profession he chose because of the passion he has for poems, but when we went off to college he had to study something that was acceptable in the market. Can’t remember what course he chose to study, but I knew he didn’t like it.

So here I was having a discussion with him about random things in life before we get to the real issue, which is how much he hates his job and how he is having a self reflective moment. Most Nigerian youths have lost hope in having a career or a profession, as they have moved to the internet like freelancing and content creating most importantly, crypto. This is amazing because this has created great opportunities for a lot of people who have once lost hope in having a life in such country where unemployment is high.

He knows I am highly invested in crypto and he admires that. Gone are those days where I will be forcing crypto down his throat, this time I have learnt to be patient and let people accept crypto at their own space, pace and time. So I didn’t bother telling him about crypto and how he could be thinking of trading or looking for crypto a jobs. But this time I just wanted to hear him talk about other things.

He suggested I tell him more about crypto and why I think crypto is the future. I told him about crypto and related it to the internet and how people once mocked the internet, especially Bill Gate who was a main advocate for internet in the past, but look at us today. We literally can’t do anything without the internet, crypto is about to be that. His next question was “What If Crypto doesn’t work out”. My reply is, better take the chance and not need it than need it and wished you had taken the chance when you could. But first he must have done his research about crypto, after doing his research and have seen what I am seeing, then he should ask himself, “What if it does work out”?

I learnt something when you said you don't force crypto down people's throat.

Just leave them to later realize thier errors by not accepting crypto. It happened to me during the Bitcoin period, then I was in secondary school and someone told me as at 2010 to purchase $10 Bitcoin. I was so ignorant of crypto then but I'm thinking now how I wished I did that peacefully. Thanks for sharing, do have a blessed week!

Wow!! That must have been really painful, do you think, if you had bought bitcoin at that time, you would still be holding?

No, I should have sold it even before the dip and purchase other alt coins.

True! I had a problem several weeks ago that I am writing a blog about to post in LeoFinance, and how crypto solved my problem.

@readthisplease thank you for sharing your experience with your friend, in this part of our country it is obvious that Young people do anything now not because is their profession but because they just want to do so that they can have something to eat and also take care of their family, but as you said opportunity come to us but because of fear we don't want to take the risk, to day an Leaning crypto, something I should have learnt earlier in 2014.

!1UP The fear of the unknown is great, but it is also fear that prevents us from finding the best opportunities...
