The third exoskeleton approved by the FDA
)
A technology that for decades belonged almost exclusively to the realm of science fiction has just received authorization to hit the streets of the United States: the FDA has approved EVE, a robotic exoskeleton developed by the French company Wondercraft to help people with spinal cord injuries stand up and walk again.
FDA authorization now allows Wondercraft to market the device in the United States for individuals with specific spinal cord injuries; however, this does not mean anyone can simply buy an EVE tomorrow and walk away. The device still requires individual assessment, training, and fitting, and the company plans to launch a controlled rollout before expanding availability.
