Our Last Evening in Granada

It got dark very late in Granada. It was almost 21:00, but there was still plenty of time before the streetlights would turn on. We started our evening walk. There was such an unbelievable crowd, as if the entire city that had slept in their hotels all day had decided to come out to this exact street. But I think this is the most atmospheric street in the whole city. Besides, we came here completely by chance. We walked through Carrera del Darro street toward Plaza Nueva, meaning New Square. Google had also recommended this place to me. The square itself was nice, but the street was much more atmospheric.

We reached the Paseo del Padre Manjón promenade. Buildings belonging to the Alhambra Palace complex were visible on the hill in the background of the square. The statue in the middle was a bronze monument dedicated to Mario Maya, a flamenco dancer who was an important figure in flamenco music and Granada culture. At that moment, the Alhambra Palace took on a wonderful reddish hue when viewed from the lookout terrace. But where we were was also very nice. The small river, the coolness, the beautiful square, everything was wonderful. We waited a little while for the lights to turn on. Music was blasting from the restaurants. A lot of cafes were lined up side by side. There was an authentic bar selling Sangria along the road.

When evening came, crickets started chirping in the trees. My friend loves finding them in the trees and taking photos of them up close, but they do not look very cute. There was a lively atmosphere.

Once again, a queue had formed to take pictures of the cats, everyone was taking photos. We had returned to that wonderful street we walked on the previous day. But this time, it had an evening atmosphere.

In short I really liked the city. It was clean, charming and beautiful. When my friend searched the internet for the most beautiful cities in Spain, Granada was in the top five on all of them. We had seen Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba and only San Sebastian was left, which we will visit in the future. In those moments, we were enjoying Granada. Accompanied by the pomegranate symbols encountered at every step, we walked toward the Main Square. Navigation was again a bit confusing, but the streets were packed full. For us who were overwhelmed by the heat, taking an evening walk at that moment in 30 degree temperature was wonderful.

We passed around the illuminated central cathedral. All the lights were working very well. We ended our evening tour there. After dinner, we rested and the next day we checked out of the hotel at 11:00. It was quite an eventful day spent on the road.
