Seagulls: Keeping The Earth Clean
Greetings Everyone and welcome to the World Photography Contest-Round 31 promoted by @marc-allaria. More information on the contest can be found Here.
Theme is
BIRDS OF THE WORLD
Seagulls (also referred to as Gulls).
The birds I have chosen get a bad rap as they love to hang around fast food places to see what leftover tidbits they can get from people. These clever birds certainly enjoy a french fry or any food left on the ground. Toss them a fry and they will follow you around until not a morsel left.
This seagull perches high on the wharf post to get an good aerial view.
Seagulls, on constant alert, are really the garbage collectors of the earth and help keep a city or town clean.
These two are waiting near a boardwalk in Souris, PEI watching for any scrap of food that may hit the ground from tourists who frequent the restaurants and ice cream takeouts.
Here on Prince Edward Island, the gulls can be seen on land, in the sky or wading in the salt water of the Montague River.
Seagulls learn, remember and even pass on behaviours, such as stamping their feet in a group to imitate rainfall and trick earthworms in to coming to the surface

Interesting Fact- Seagulls are fondly remembered in Utah for helping Mormon settlers deal with a plague of crickets. The seagull is now the state bird of Utah and a monument in Salt Lake City commemorates the event, known as the ‘Miracle of the Gulls.
