  • KELP

Kelp is large brown seaweed that grows in shallow saltwater near coastal areas, It’s a type of marine plant you can see washed up on the beach.

Kelp has a lot of nutrients and healthy to eat. I have eaten dried Kelp since a child - it is called dulce on the store-bought package.

Pulse and kelp are edible seaweeds that have been harvested for years for their high mineral content and nutritional value. Dulse, also known as sea lettuce flakes, Rhodymenia palmate or red dulse, is a type of red seaweed harvested along the waters of Canada and the Atlantic coast, while the fronds may grow on shells or in tidal areas on rocks. It’s widely consumed in Ireland and other Northern European countries and Canada. Source

  • Kite

Kite flying seems like a lot of fun, not that I would know much about it.

If you’ve been told, “Go fly a kite” don’t take it literally. It means the person wants you to leave them alone and go entertain yourself.

I saw this kite flying in the air without any tether rope.

There were two kites in the air floating freely. They must have gotten away from whoever was flying them.

  • Kitten

Who can resist picking up and petting a cute little kitten? Maybe even bringing the little fur ball home to be part of the family.

This is Sunday, a little black and white kitten, by the fire with Red, a month after I brought him home from the barn he was living in.

He had to be bathed from the cow mature stuck to his fur. He was injured from falling out of the hay loft and one eye was infected. I bathed his eye every day and he is a well cat today.

Sunday cat is healthy and active. As a kitten he was not impressed with wearing the Santa hat and soon got it off his head. He likes to fight Red and they have a few play scuffles.

  • kayak

A kayak is a small, narrow watercraft which is typically propelled by means of a double-bladed paddle. The word kayak originates from the Greenlandic word qajaq. Source

Someone kayaking on the Montague River.

My sister, with our grand nephew, kayaking at her cottage. It’s a fun sport to just paddle out and enjoy the fresh air and expanse of the beautiful lake. She kayaks every day when she is there.

  • Kid

Children are sometimes called kids but a kid is actually a young goat.

I didn’t have any other photo of a goat but this one that was at the barn at the Rossignol winery in Little ands, P.E.I.

  • Knocker

Knockers don’t always refer to a slang word for a woman’s breast, sometimes there are knockers on a door. Door knockers come in many fancy designs.

My door knocker.

I'm glad to learn this expression “Go fly a kite” 😁 this is so funny !

My goddaughter saw kids last day with a kite and she said " I would love to have a kite !" I was so happy that she gave me an idea that I can take notice for next gift..even if it will be for christmas now 😆

I love knockers, you can find some really beautiful pieces along with old wooden doors ...
Thanks for your early selection my dear and have a cheerfulday.png

Barbara, I’m always happy to give you a chuckle with new things and expressions not familiar to you.

Your goddaughter would have hours of fun flying a kite.

Yes there are some fabulous old knockers.

Have a wonderful day!

Wow, you have been so fast with your K post, Jo, half an hour ago I was still searching for my sixth word, but then I made a Knot 😁

You have selected very nice words and although the Kitten and the Kid goat are lovely I think I like the Kelp photo most. I have never thought of eating sea weed before, but thanks to you I'll try it next time I see some 🙂

I had just finished my K selections when I saw Barbara had posted the winners From the Js and I was quick on the draw then.😀

Knot is a great one and you made your own.

I’ve usually buy the seaweed already dried and packaged under the name Dulse but you can pick it off the shore, straighten it out and let it dry on a rock or something, then eat it once it has dried. It’s good for you but it may be an acquired taste. Worth a try and I hope you like it.

Thanks for beer and engage tokens Johann.

It starting to rain here now and will be cooler tonight. Have a lovely Friday.🤗

Good morning Jo,
(I know I've said that already 😉)

When I'm at the sea next time I'll look for some sea weed and dry it. I don't think I have seen it in a shop yet, but I have never looked for it anyway ;)

The rain has stopped here, but it's going to be a gray Friday and I'll have to make new plans.
I hope your night is cool, followed by a sunny Friday 🔆

I’ve seen the dried seaweed/ dulse in a large barrel at one seaside town. You just pull out what you want and they weigh it to determine the price. Sometimes there are still small seashells attached.

Have a good night Johann. 😊

I think that's better than collecting it yourself at the beach, and then wash and dry it at home. I don't know if we will go on vacation outside of Austria this year, but if we do I'll definitely look for it 🙂
Have a good afternoon and a good night too, Jo 🙂

It’s a fun water sport and nice you can go out yourself and paddle around the lake at whatever speed you want.

Thanks @justclickindiva and have a wonderful Friday.

Look at Sunday's baby photos! Too cute.

Funny that you saw two free flying kites! One I can understand. But 2?

One of the worst things for me about having MS was no longer being able to kayak. It was my passion. I had heard other people with MS say they dream about running, I dream I am out on the water.

I noticed the one kite first and then the other one in the air behind it. It does seem strange that two had escaped but I didn’t see any one around to tether them.

My sister loves kayaking. I’m sorry you can’t enjoy it anymore with the MS Melinda. It’s funny how our dreams will compensate for what we miss in real time.

Have a wonderday day and coming weekend.❤️

It is sizzling hot here this weekend. I react badly to getting overheated, so I am stuck indoors. But even with that, I love summer!

Nice round up on the letter "K" Jo, down in the Cape kelp is harvested and used not so much on our coast with warmer water.

Kite building and flying when we were young was so popular in all shapes and sizes, many plummeted to the ground on first flight... just saying, it is an art to keep them up.

Pet hate is children being called kids, once asked to edit flyer post going out a couple of years ago and woman took great exception to my suggesting she not refer to children as baby goats... Oh well say it the way you see it!

Kayak we refer to as a canoe as well depending on the person which they use, great fun and something we enjoyed on a lake when young.

Have an awesome day and thanks for sharing these lovely photos covering the alphabet hunt.

Thanks Joan. They used to harvest the kelp here with horses at one time. The horses hauled giant rakes to pull the seaweed out of the water.

Yes I’ve hear children referred to as kids many times.

Have a wonderful Friday and coming weekend. ❤️
