ALBUM REVIEW. Arch Enemy - Deceivers (2022)

Glad you visited my blog!

Once again I will try to highlight a novelty from the world of metal music. And this time, one of the Swedish bands Arch Enemy, which I respect, came under fire with their 11th release, called “Deceivers”.

Those who read me know my attitude towards melodic death metal. It's a cool style and there are a lot of bands doing it really well. Arch Enemy is an amazing band that deserves the attention of connoisseurs of heavy music. So I advise you to get acquainted with the work, if you have not already done so.

"Deceivers" is the third studio album in the band for vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. The girl showed herself from the best side, as a vocalist and a charismatic performer. I think she's the best replacement for Angela Gossow you could find.

As for the album itself. “Deceivers” is a hard and dark work in the spirit of the band and I think the fans will appreciate it. Besides, as before, the main ideological inspirer and composer of the album is Michael Amott. He's a bandmaker and self-taught guitarist whose work (and his brother Christopher, by the way) I used to really like.

Unfortunately, new member and lead guitarist Jeff Loomis (who many know as the founding member of Nevermore) had little to no involvement in the writing of the music. And this is a gross mistake, because he is an amazing musician. From this it turns out that the new studio work cannot please the listeners with anything new. The album is good, but lacks tone and variety.

Alissa White-Gluz is a good extreme vocalist. This girl is perfect for Arch Enemy's music. But with clean vocals, so far, everything is not so good. It can be heard that she is engaged in her vocals, since the first attempts to perform with clean vocals were rather controversial and unpleasant to hear.

Instrumental compositions on the album of the highest praise. They sound beautiful and are memorable. I think this is the best part of this post.

“Deceivers” is something that we have already heard more than once in the discography of Arch Enemy. No, the record is not bad, it has beautiful melodies and riffs, cool vocals and much more. However, the album lacks a core. There are no favorite songs visible to me and everything is pretty bland compared to the band's previous releases.

Love this! Arch Enemy rock! I used to listen to them a long time ago - I can't remember the singers name (like 15 years ago?) but she was amazing! I wonder why they changed singers? This said, Alissa is amazing! Love the new stuff :)
