When we hear the word decentralization then the first thing comes in mind is that- Transparency, NO censorship and freedom to share thoughts without worrying about any kind of controlling authority.

This is my submission for the initiative by @theycallmeDan for the topic What does Decentralization Mean to me

Before I talk about this let's talk about what centralized social media platforms are and how things are working in centralized platforms.

There are many social media platforms available where users can share their content like photos return blocks and videos etc. if I need to name some of these nights a Facebook Instagram YouTube Twitter and so on. All these names that I have taken just now are centralized social media platforms that mean whatever content is shared by the users here can be modified, deleted by the platform itself. These platforms can even ban account for demonetization whenever they want without even letting the user know the reason this is something very well known issue nowadays with YouTube and sometimes Facebook too. Even on Twitter, I have seen many users blocked by them because they are using the type of content which Twitter is not what like so they either put the account on hold or ban it. This problem is so big with YouTube and every other day we see many YouTubers facing this problem as their accounts are banned for their content is demonetized. Recently we have seen that YouTube was blocking the accounts for the content creators who are sharing cryptocurrency-related content in the platform.

Now talking about decentralization, there are very fewer options and Steem is one of them. When I joined Steem I knew that it is a decent life social media platform built on blockchain and here there will be no manipulation with the content and complete freedom will be provided which is not available In centralizing social media platforms that I mentioned before.

For me Decentralisation means:

• Transparency
• Freedom & Liberty
• No Censorship
• Equal value authority
• Fair content Treatment
• Right to raise voice
• Speak freely about any topic
• Ownership of my content and data
• NO Fear for account banning and demonization

These are my thoughts about decentralization and I feel a platform is decentralized only when these are the options provided to all the users in With no biased treatment. I have completed one year on Steem Blockchain and I am happy to share that since day one here, I have been getting all these without even asking for it Because all these are the basic entitlements of any decentralized platform.

I am not from a technical background so I don't understand anything that's more technical and even I have no understanding about block arrangement in the blockchain platforms. As a user whatever thoughts I have about decentralization, I have shared over here and there may be cases that many other users would have totally different but whatever I shared here are based on my understanding and learning within one year on steem.

Why Decentralisation Important to me?

Decentralization is very important to me because it offers complete freedom with no fear of banning, no censorship, no data manipulation, and complete ownership of my content. I choose to join Steem because all these features are available here being a Recent lies platform. Transparency is very important and it's available only if the platform is decentralized otherwise other platforms are using the content for their benefits and revenue generation which is good for the platform but not for the users. Even things are not equal on a centralized platform where only platform owners are earning revenue and content creators are either not paid properly or surviving under the act that they can be banned any time with no reason provided. I don't want to Work with any platform where transparency is not maintained and the required value to content creator is not provided that is why I joined steem and I never had such issues here. So for me, decentralization is the first thing and highly important before I go ahead and share my content data which is very much valuable for me and I would never afford that somebody else can have the ownership of my content. If it's my content then I am the only owner and I am not okay to give the ownership to anyone else.

Since the last couple of months, I have been quite active on the steem platform and Twitter as well because this is a kind of platform which I am in love with and sharing content every day is my passion now. We all know that a lot is happening on steam because I'm just on son and community is fighting for the existence of Steem. It's been almost 2 weeks and may witness support is already in favor of previous top witnesses. Fight all these fights my trust and belief on the platform is remaining the same because the community same and I am hopeful that all this will be sorted out soon and things will be back to normal. Are you also see the top witnesses are working very hard to come to a conclusion and ensure the proper functioning of blockchain and all these can be seen on Twitter and STEEM as well.
