Hey darling hivers

Todays topic is inspired by #kiss blog question four. This week, is sel-care week and the question asks

What does self care mean to you?
Why are some of the risk of not taking time for self-care? And what are the benefits of taking time out for self-care?

If you know me you know that I appreciate a good self loving, pampering and self-care, in my case maybe a little too much because my motto right now in life seem to be enjoyment to the fullest, I take every opportunity to relax, unwind and take a break from life.

Self-care is the act of loving and pampering yourself in what ever way that suits your person and your pocket. It doesn’t have to be a trip round the world or a heavily costing vacation, if you have the means, that’s okay it’s always a way to self care and unwind. Self care can range from Just sitting back and sipping on a glass of chilled juice, or just taking time off to get a good nap.

As humans we put our body to work almost 20hours round the clock every single day, it’s not our fault, it’s how life has fashioned us to be. You have to hustle and work so you can survive and live a fairly good life. At the end of the day most people work and work and work and do not realize that their bodies need to rest, need to be pampered or just need medical attention.

When you don’t take time for self-care, you end up over working your body system. Some persons do not even take not of the signs their bodies give to them, they just take aspirin or pain killers and move on, eventually their system gets to the point where it shuts down and then they end up landing themselves in the hospital. When you neglect yourself in pursuit of life hustles, you are doing a great disservice to yourself and your body. At every point in everyone’s life, we all need some relaxation, some rest, that’s why God created sleep, because he knew we as humans need rest for our body system to reboot and rejuvenate itself.

Hence the reason why cooperate work give leave, so that their worker can take a break to rest and refresh their bodies and mind for a while before returning to work. Now like I said, self care doesn’t have to be expensive,if you can’t afford expensive trips, spas or vacations, there are many other ways to pamper yourself and self-care.

For me the best way I self-care is taking myself to the spa, once I get some facials done, some pedicure, I begin to feel refreshed. Another way
Is getting regular massages. This one I learnt from my husband man. Once a week, we get massages, it helps release all our tensed nerves and muscles, for me I particularly love a good foot massage because my work requires me to stand a lot and so my legs are always in pain. Getting massaged helps blood to circulate well and flow freely. It reduces tension and help me relax, after the massage and a good warm bath, I sleep off like a baby.

Sometimes it could be just going for a swim. This one is something I recently started engaging in. Swimming refreshes me, I use the opportunity in water to clear my head and mind and also just float on the water and allow my thoughts drift. It helps me relax my mind and body, there is something about being in a large body of water that makes me at ease.

Taking myself on treats/a date, no matter how broke I feel, I treat myself to good restaurants meals. Sometimes just eating food not cooked by me is all the self care I need, order to my hearts desire and eat to my hearts content. This makes my taste bud happy and consequently, the happy hormones in my body is released, and I automatically feel like a child with a lollipop. I don’t know about you but eating good food makes me giddy.

Also a good skin care routine for me also does it, I love a good healthy skin, and I found out that when my skin is healthy, I feel happy and radiant. That is why I do not take my
Skin care routines for granted. Please note that healthy skin takes alot not just a skin care products, eating right, exercise, supplements and drinking lots of water, having a relaxed mind are also involved in achieving a good healthy skin.

Our bodies are our working house, even as we make use of it daily, just like gadgets experience tear and wear and fade out, when we don’t care or pamper our selves by relaxing and resting and allowing our body system reboot, we are heading towards failing our bodies and over working ourselves. Self care should be a way of life, don’t neglect yourself by allowing life pressure consume you, if all the things mentioned in this article are too expensive for you, then try to make getting enough rest and sleep a self care routine for yourself.

What are the things you love to do for self-care??
Let’s discuss in the comments below.
I invite @nkemakonam89 to participate in this weeks question prompt.

20 hours a day!?! Don't you sleep?

A Spa day is a great way to relax and recharge.

I agree though that self care does not have to be expensive. There are many ways to relax without spending money. Thanks for sharing.

Wahoo
One thing I learned from your post the other day was to give myself a self-treat at least once in a while. Today, you unfolded another interesting part that hit me so hard🙈. You see, I am always a busy mum, multitasking should be my second name 🤣🤣 But then there is indeed a need for me to take a break once in a while and pamper myself amidst my busy bee, lolz grammar 😝

This community , I think It worth subscribing 🤗...thanks for the invite Rokie

Hello @reineesmay;

enjoyment to the fullest

That's the spirit:)))

I think you've got the concept of self-care down to a tee.
It's nice to know that you take the time to look after yourself in a holistic way, even down to the taste of what you eat.
I have enjoyed reading this:)
