Backup.
They say, always keep a backup plan. I feel like the options are too limited to even count on some backup plans. Or it's simply because I'm in the loser club!
Being raised up in a financially stable family, we didn't have to face much during our childhood. But adulting is tough. Especially it's tougher when you choose something out of the box. That's exactly what's going on right now in my life. We are facing some difficulty here and there, sometimes going paycheck to paycheck, sometimes having no difficulty at all.
To be honest, there's something always in the back of my mind. I never wanted to do a day job or a typical 9-5 job. I took the blame for my failure that I didn't put enough effort to make my plan B happen. I always thought there was still time, I can get back to what I cherished.
But you know what? Life will not always go the way you planned for it. No matter how much we try, there will always be some uncertainty. It's like some small wholes in a water jar, every other day you will find some water is leaking, you will fix it and the next day some more will appear.
Being strong on what you believe can help you grow is the key. Stick with it. Also, believing that you can help a lot. I sometimes lose cool on myself too. But I calm down the next moment and rethink my plan.
Your backup will save you.
Believe me.
Here I'm mostly talking about financial life. But in general, you will always think about 'what if' and 'then how'. There's no guarantee about your health, your life partner; anything. Think about what will you do if you lose it. Be prepared for it in the back of your mind. And do prepare for the financial backup plan actively.
You never know when things will change.
I know a man who had a high-paid job, a posh car, a house, a family; everything. But unfortunately, he lost his job for some faux lawsuit against him. Gradually he had to give up many things, he now lives a very different life.
When I think about this, I feel blessed that I still can afford a lot of things, maybe not much but still...
Working on my backups. You work on yours too.
We say it here in Nigeria that adulthood is a scam. There are always things popping up and so many things that would get us worried. We just have to keep going. Just like you said, life deals with us all as with the case of the man you cited. A lot can happen so quickly. Just when we think we have it worse, we would still look at others and be thankful.
We have to keep pushing. It's going to be fine. We have to stay true to our goals and be more intentional. We need to go all out and just make the most of every moment. It's not always easy and might not get easier but we can get better. It's tough but God would help us. We keep pushing...

That's what I believe. Giving our best and trying things will sure bring at least something to the table rather than nothing.
