Exploring the large field of "Saccharum flower" | An escape from the city!

This visit made our weekend special. It was a fresh afternoon after many many days. Fortunately, the weather was nice and the place was not crowded like the other places in the city so we get to enjoy the natural view a lot.

If you are not familiar with Saccharum then you may be wondering what it is!

Saccharum is a grass native to the Indian Subcontinent. It is a perennial grass, growing up to three meters in height, with spreading rhizomatous roots.

This is what Google showed me. We call this plant Kashful/কাশফুল. It's a common perennial grass during Late Autumn. But in the middle of the city, where could you find it? Not many places coz we didn't skip making any highrises on empty spaces, no?

Still, there are some places which are just outside the city where we get to enjoy the view of Kashful. I went to a nearby place called Aftab Nagar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I'm pinning it on Pinmapple so you can find it easily.

Now let me share some beautiful photos of the Saccharum plants!

This is the view of the place. It's a large open space, some construction work is going on here and there. But the place is still not residential. So you would only get to see some visitors like you who came there to enjoy nature.

We took a local ride (you can also see a similar one in the photo) called Rickshaw. It's a man-pulled vehicle which is one of the common local means of transport of Bangladesh.

The road was nearly empty, neat and clean with a perfect view of the Kashful plants and flowers.

There are many empty spaces where you can do a mini picnic also. I have seen many groups of people, friends, and family come there to have a good hangout in-between nature.

Grab a picnic sheet, some food, and drinks, and enjoy your evening there.

One thing that surprised me and that is the puddle in the field, they were full of fish. Many amateur fishermen were there. I had no idea that I could have seen this because this is a very uncommon experience in the city.

And don't forget to grab some Kashful if you visit there. It's a perfect place for photoshoots also. The white and green background makes it looks havenly.

People believe that if you grab some kashful, make a wish and blow it your wish will come true. You can try that too.

My son grabbed his football and played there alone with his Dad for a while. Also, he was running around the huge open field which he usually doesn't get to do.

It was an enjoyable afternoon indeed. The season of Kashful is ending. So if you still didn't visit this place, you can go there to see amazing nature.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!
