What I learned from this song is that the secret of coming into the presence of God is with thanksgiving. Once we come with thanksgiving, it gladdens the heart of God, and He will accept our worship.
The song is also talking about the joy that comes when we praise God. Whenever we praise God, there is a joy that comes into our hearts. There is an inner joy that even we cannot explain. That is the joy of the Holy Ghost. He directs us and gives us what we need.
And yes, in the presence of the Lord, I will surely bring my gift with thanksgiving. The secret is that we should come into the presence of God with a pure heart and open up our hearts to Him, and He will accept our thanksgiving.
