A good balance of Hive assets for early retirement...

I'm not that far off my crypto stacking for retirement at current prices.

This has been helped a lot by the latest ickle uplift in price, and so what's below may be optimistic and may have to be adjusted!

These are the following asset classes I focus on within the Hive ecosystem:

  • HBDs - 15% return (I'm future proofing this, I know the 20% ain't gonna last forever)
  • Rewards from Hive writing - not a percentage but around $5K a year for me.
  • Hive Power curation returns - 8% APR
  • Hive-Engine pool rewards - 20% APR (some GOOD returns here)
  • Splinterlands assets - 10% APR (maybe a bit mean here, but it seems to be about right over all, I think a lot of the figures on display are nonsense).

Targets for a $15K per annum yield...

The figures below are priced in $$$$ terms, so with Hive at let's call it $0.33 for ease of calculation, $45K worth of Hive = 135K Hive which will yield around $3600 a year in curation returns...

In the figures above I've gone for a balanced rebalancing as I stack to end up with $100K worth of assets which include...

  • 10% in HBDs, could be more!
  • almost half in Hive, THIS NEEDS SOME WORK
  • 5% in the riskier but higher yielding diesel pools.
  • 40% in diversified SL assets, for me half of this is in cards, another half in SPS, pools, and Nodes! Oh and LAND, but I've discounted the value of land here. That's just sort of a given.
  • And a flat $5K a year in writing returns.

I should hit this by the middle of 2026 assuming prices stay the same and I pile back in $10K a year, that means only skimming around 15% which is fine.

Target for a $20K per annum yield

This is my longer term goal by 2030 at the latest....

Screenshot 2023-11-04 at 13.49.12.png

  • At current prices that's at least 200K HP, I am committed.
  • Nearer 20% in HBDs, I would want this proportion even if the returns were 10% rather than 15%
  • A relatively safe 6% in the diesel pools, I may actually up this, but NB there is VERY POOR SECURITY IN THESE POOLS!
  • Splinterlands - I don't intend to increase the value of my asset holdings much, what I've got is already insane
  • And I don't intend to give up on writing!

Number go up, number go down....

Of course the above figures are only true if BTC stays around $35K and Hive around $0.35, if those numbers go down, my yield goes down.

If, on the other hand we have peaks where these prices sky rocket, I'll be stacking stable coins like no one's business.

The plan is to stack HBDs like crazy crazy when number go up, and then stack the other assets when number go down!

I don't like the idea of Powering Down Hive or selling SL cards, but if there's another 2021 I will be doing this, stacking HBDs and then looking to buy back.

But honestly if we have insane moon I don't mind having $50-$100K sitting in HBDs, which at the upper end of that estimate would yield me $15K already on its own.

And if the markets are more steady, well it's just slowly stacking!!!

Congrats getting the 100K HP. $3600 from curation plus don't forget the 3% APR which adds up quickly. There is so many positives on Hive when it comes to passive income opportunities. The future is definitely bright for all of us.

I am thinking somewhat in manner as you, and I appreciate you putting out your long view for our consideration!

It all adds up across the various assets. I have thought about selling my Splinterlands cards, but they are worth a lot less now and bring in a steady (small) income. I've not gone big on HBD, but I'll have some of it earning interest. I really feed HIVE ought to go up a little, but nothing is certain.

Well I'm with you on the view that Hive is undervalued... it"s got so much going for it!

That's mine too!

That's one of the beautiful things about hive. However just like with any investing you don't want all your eggs in one basket that being hive.

One of the coolest things I think though is right now we are semi still in the bear market so if you can hit your goals and dollar values you need now while the bear market is in full swing then you know you're set as the bull markets just going to be gravy!

Hello excuse me. The first column is the bet and the second the return?

You are setting the standard and target of how I should approach retirement. Thank you for your weekly posts.

That's a great plan man, I want to retire early too and I'm already working on it, I'm saving in Hive, if prices go up too much I can buy some HBD like you said and save in savings and if they go down then I'll use fiat to buy some Hive and keep saving again! My goal is to reach 200,000 HP around 2030. It sounds crazy but I know I can do it.

Good to have a plan and you just have to keep on stacking! Good luck!

I like your plan!, I like the idea of the plan as much as I like the plan.

My plan has always been focused on the traditional stock market world, as that has been my area of interest since my teenage years. My hard date is 2030, when my mortgage is due to be paid off, I'm not sure how much I'll have left over after that, but I'm definitely leaning into crypto and the Hive ecosystem in particular as an alternative and in addition to my share ISA. I still like a bit of BTC, ADA, SOL and MATIC ( been hearing a lot about PYTH recently, needs looking into, but I'm wary).

Splinterlands is my main Hive holding, I'm starting to branch out and explore. There is a lot to learn and it's a drip feed ( pun intended, that is a project I like and am dabbling in ) of info that is propelling me forward. Zing recently introduced me to HE pools and the concept of delegation. Currently I trying to get my head round the whole delegation thing.

If I could think of anything interesting to say, maybe I'd write, been mulling it over, but hey!, who knows what tomorrow brings :-)

You have achieved all things with great wisdom and hard work, and if you continue to do so, whatever comes your way will be much easier.

I've just been working out similar things myself - would make a welcome addition to income!

I was looking for info about Ragnarok and Larynx ... have they both died a death?
