Can't send my Cub to Null: MM/ XDEFI/ Binance and Trust all say NO! (For various reasons)
I went through the rather complex process of trying to exchanging my Cub and PCub for LEO today.
Because it's rather complex I decided to write a post about it to make sure I'm doing in right....

NB this started as a how-to guide that became a doesn't-work post, because basically I can't do phase one, COMPUTER SAYS NO!
Exchanging Cub for LEO process...
To convert liquid CUB/POLYCUB to LEO:
- Send a 0.00001 BNB (or 0.00001 MATIC) TX to the Null Address with Your Hive Username in the Memo ("Hex Data") Field
- Send CUB or pCUB to the Null wallet on BSC or Polygon
Two simple steps but HIGHLY important that you do it properly. READ CAREFULLY.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME WITH PROPER FORMATTING (LOWERCASE) IN THE MEMO.

1. Send 0.0001 to null with your Hive Username in the memo/ HexData field.....
i) Enable "Show hex data"
On Metamask...go to "Advanced" settings and turn "Show Hex Data" on. You will enter your Hive username/ wallet address into this field in the MM wallet when doing the 0.00001 BNB tx.
ii) Send 0.00001 BNB to the Null wallet address with your Hive Username in the HexData field
The null wallet address on both BSC & Polygon is the same:
"0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead"
However, the above didn't work for me...
I got this far....
To the letter (I think)
Then got this.....
Increasing the gas doesn't work.
This is along with at least two other people I know of so far...
Tried on two machines, two different browswers on each, someone in the comments to the above post tried fresh installs and still no joy.
So for some reason, MM just doesn't work for some of us.
No workarounds work for me...
I dropped in the Leo Discord and someone and Khal via a link suggested the following:
- XDEFI - tried, doesn't allow memos unless you 'add an address to your contacts, but it won't recognise the null address, so NO!
- Trust wallet - doesn't support Trezor
- Binance wallet - doesn't support Trezor.
So I'm kind of now hoping and probably relying on a manual trust based workaround for phase one.
Hypothetical Next Steps....
I've NO IDEA if this will even work...? But if I can get some kind of guarantee that I'll get my LEO without the memo phase above that doesn't work I'll just send the whole lot to null ASAP, as below...
2. Send yer Cub/ PCub to Null
Simply send whatever Pcub/ Cub you have to.....
"0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead"
Send all yer Cub/ PCub in ONE transaction to keep the process smooth!
Next steps...
Hopefully we'll get a trust based workaround, I've now tried FOUR wallet routes to get my cub out and none of them work with a Trezor!
Or just give me a regular address to send the Cub to and someone else can burn the goddam stuff, IDM!
Or someone tell me now to get MM or XDEFi working!
I'm too sick of this now to search for ANOTHER browser wallet!
Not the best of Friday nights, but thankfully we are still in the realm of first world problems here!

I have CUB in my Hive Engine wallet, but I couldn't do anything with it for a long time.

Sorry to hear your having trouble. SPS price plummeted recently, so I just used my CUb to buy SPS since they are both on binance smart chain and then I used the Splinterlands Terrablocks bridge to bring the SPS home and stake them.

Wow. Honestly, after the flop cub and pcub turned out to be, I had completely forgotten about them! Seems I have some catching up to do, thanks for sharing this info!

I saw they're cooking a different method to claim, will probably wait and see.
For the whole whopping 1k LEO I would get for doing this it doesn't seem like it's worth the hassle.
Just swap maybe..?

Thanks for this. Sounds like a right pain in the ass which is pretty much what CUB has always been for me. I rue the day I ever got involved with it. If you can't make it work then I've got no chance. Like @bitcoinflood I might not even try. Depends how much I own. Cant remember.
I did OK out of Pcub especially so this is not too painful just a minor pain!
I had the same error on Polycub but fortunately my Polycub was Lewis so I just swapped it for MATIC on sushiswap
Ha! Nothing to do with the price of tea in China, but I also went to search for some XDEFI secrets and this article is one page one of Google results for "send memo xdefi wallet".

Forget XDEFI, Trust & other wallets. These will not help in our case.
I tried them ALL. Various browsers, PC's, wallets, numerous their combinations. All useless
IMHO, a good clue is this:
Try to Encode your Hive account text (revisesociology) to HEX format (726576697365736f63696f6c6f6779), put it in HEX Data window, and all should work.
Numerous text>HEX encoders online. One of them: codebeautify.org/string-hex-converter
Use METAMASK, no other alternatives or substitutions.
