Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Up to Eleven (Amplify!)

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Amplify in which every monster gains the Amplify ability, where thorns, reflect, and return fire do extra damage!

Amplify general strategy....

If you want to play the rule set, then you can't really do better than one of the summoners with return fire, reflect or thorns, but there aren't many of these.

The problem with doing this is that you lose any other buffs, and are dependent on your opponent playing magic, for example, if you play reflect.

This is probably why so many people just ignore this ruleset, it's a passive one!

Amplify battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle in which both of just ignore amplify and I win.

I had this ruleset three times recently, honestly, I ignored it thrice, as did my opponent!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 33
  • Just Amplify

** Chanseus**

  1. Shieldbearer - shield and taunting tank
  2. Soul fiend - opportunity sink.
  3. Spirit Hoarder - triage
  4. Venari Crystalsmith - heal
  5. Blight - poison and affliction, nasty
  6. Adelaide brightwing - nice damage and repair.

The battle...

  • Round 1 - We trade blows for no losses
  • Round 2 - I take out the Squid
  • Rounds 3 - 6 - Even stevens until an affliction hits and I FINALLY take out Osheanus, then the Venari Wavesmith!
  • Round 7 - more rapido now, I take out the Mershalli and the Kthulu
  • Round 8 - it's all over, the Ice Pixie goes down!

Final battle analysis

I was well prepared with a range of attacks if amplify had occurred, not putting too much risk on being overly damaged by reflect or whatever was played, but my opponent ignored it too!

Healing won the day, along with repair and the mixture of attacks worked well against Osheanus, once I was through him it was all over!

Amplify final thoughts...

Honestly, just ignore it, everyone else does!

Changes like this we can see have a lot of benefits. If the card does more damage, it's easier to play games and easier to win.
