Weight Loss Drugs... more likely game changers than AI..?
While much of our attention is focused on AI, weight loss drugs may actually be on the rise as an even bigger game changer....
Take Wegovy or Mounjaro....
Obviously these are smart techs which help fat people lose weight, but there's more going on here....
One unexpected side effect of these drugs is that they aren't just changing how full people feel, they are changing the way people chase rewards, which is huge....
If junk food just doesn’t sound good anymore, food makers will feel that squeeze - and this is already showing up in sales numbers....

A profound impact on Capitalism....
Capitalism thrives on desire. Everything from ads to shiny packaging exists to make us want things—right now. The engine is built on people caving in to temptation. But what if that stops working? If people are less drawn to food, drinks, or shopping, demand could slow across tons of industries.
That’s no small thing. It flips the script on a core belief: everyone always wants more.
There are clear upsides. Healthier people, fewer diseases connected to obesity, higher quality of life. That’s good news for society. But for businesses, it’s a little tense. Fast food chains, snack companies, and lots of retailers bank on people buying—often stuff they don’t need.
Science versus Capitalism...
I mean it's an unintended consequence of these drugs for sure, but maybe there is something here.
Then again, there's a lot more to desire out there than just dougnuts...

Are these drugs not just changing the reward that is being chased, switching one shortcut to a reward pathway for another, same coin different sides, as you said , more to desire than doughnuts
They all have the "want it now" factor.
Definitely healthier eating less junk food for sure, but check out the side effects, from anecdotal evidence ( yes, small sample size I agree) these side effects are not as uncommon as we tend to think "side effects" can (or will) be, and that's just the ones that show up quickly.
I have a friend who is using one of these after struggling with their weight for years and trying all the diets. It seems to work.
We are surrounded by tempting products, but we don't have to keep consuming them. Apart from coffee I mainly drink tap water so the soft drinks industry makes little from me. In general I try to avoid impulse buys, but I will save up for things I really want that should last. I will admit that we spoiled the kids a bit at times, but they have grown up well anyway.
