Arrival Of My Next Batch Of Broiler Birds..

So, today I took delivery of my next batch of broiler birds for the festive season.
This is the season that has the peak activities in terms of buying of poultry product for celebration purpose..

And so I was at the pick up place for my birds at the said time but the birds hadn’t arrived then, I had to wait a little longer for them to arrive with the birds.

Prior to this day, I had no idea on how the day old birds were been transported. I had thought that due to their fragile nature, the means of transporting them would be more delicate in handling.

But, it was with surprise on how there were packed and shipped on top of a vehicle.
And the funny thing is the distance there had to travel before the chicks gets to my place of pick up.

We’re the hatchery is located, is a very far distance that can take you almost 12hours in transit, that is if everything goes on we’ll.

And to see how there were packed, I really felt sorry for the chickens as a result of the distance and the means of transporting them, most of them will die due to so many factors.

So, once the birds arrive there are first offloaded and counted by the supplier and the dead once been discarded while the weak ones are been kept in a different area for resuscitation.

After counting it will now be distributed to each and every customer that had booked.
Having seen how there were transported, I immediately took mine home, so I could give them water and make them more relaxed and comfortable.

Since the brooding area had already been prepared, all I had to do now was to give them glucose in their water to energies them.

I had to take them one after the other and dip their mouth in the water for a drink, immediately, there started drinking showing that there were very thirsty..

So, I will just allow them to drink and eat their food and rest to regain their strength.

Will have to watch them closely before I go to bed…
