Exploring Local Spices In The Market!!
Hello Hivers
Welcome to my blog.!!
This will be my first post on the #marketfriday community and I’m quite excited.
So today I went to the market to explore the different spice I might find in the local market.
Recently I have been thinking of growing some spices in my garden. As a gardener, I mostly focus on growing vegetables , but I’m thinking of also adding spices to the list.
Spices also have some medicinal benefits ,I want to also take advantage of, that’s why I want to grow them.
So, I had to go to the local market to check out the local spices we have.
I had to follow my mum who knows the in's and outs of the market so I won’t get lost.😉.
I don’t really like going to the market
BecUse of so many people there and you must come in contact with the another person and I don't really like that. That's why I don't like the market.
There were so many sellers, selling different local food stuff, but the spices was our aim.
Some of the spices, I have never seen before, while some I have heard about it, while some I don’t even know their names😁.
I actually went to the market to explore and also know the local names of these spice so I can do some research on them and know how best I can grow them.
But an interaction with the seller, I realized that some of the spices are gotten from big trees in the forest and that most take years to be fully matured for harvesting..
The spices weren’t that expensive, their prices ranges from $0.1 - $0.3 and weighing some few grams (,1g, 3 g -5g) I had to buy some of the spices so I can do some reading on them on how best to grow them..
Some of the spices I bought are;
• Calabash Nutmeg (Ehuru)
• Negro pepper (Uda)
• Aiden. (Ayayak)
• Alligator pepper etc

Markets are busy and I don’t like going either most of the time. I always try to go when I know there will be less people, for example when the eat. It is not as busy then.
Great spices you bought.
Happy Friday 👋🏻😁
Thanks for stopping by...
You are welcome 😁
Markets can be fun, but, I don't really go to crowded markets since Covid hit. It just doesn't make sense to crowd into a place like that. It is okay when the crowd is smaller.
Spices are interesting in how they can change your food and make it go from dinner to an amazing culinary delight. Never underestimate the work of spices! :) I am not familiar with all the spices that you bought. Do you know what you will be using some of them for? Which was the most expensive spice? Which was the cheapest? Is the market near you or do you have to drive to get there?
My apologies for being so late this week! As you can see from my post, I was looking at a piece of property, probably three hours away from where I live and I had to go back several days in a row (spending all day there.) Six hours on the road and being there for hours took my entire day away, and here I am on Monday doing #MarketFriday! Sorry!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
