I Changed The Litter For My Chicks To Avoid Any Issues.

Hello Hivers!!
Welcome to my blog..

So today when I got to the brooding area where my day old chicks are, I realized the litter is becoming much and there was a need to change their litter.

As the saying goes, cleanliness is next to Godliness, I know I’m a first time poultry farmer, but from the knowledge I have gathered raising other livestock like rabbits and fish, what I have come to the understanding is that, the environment where these animals leave plays a very big role to their resistance level to disease attacks.

If where there are is clean, then the chances of them falling ill is reduced.
So, with that idea, I never intend to allow the litter from the birds pile up for long before changing them.
Changing the litter, was quite easy, because the floor of the brooding unit way laid with a cartoon and old used calenders, so I could easily roll up the old used calenders up and take it out easily.

With the way they are eating and growing rapidly, I wouldn’t stay long as much before I change their bedding, because the more the grow the more the eat and the more the produce much litter, so let’s say after every two day I will change the bedding, till there complete their two weeks brooding where there will be transferred to a much larger space .

The birds are really showing significant weight gain, although I didn’t weigh them when I brought them in and now, but from their physical appearance, and weighing by hand, I can say there are doing well.
