My Female Rabbit Preparing Her Nesting Box To Kindle Her Bunnies

avatar

Hello Hivers!!!
Welcome to my blog.

So, today during my normal morning routine I noticed one of my female rabbits pulling off her fur, this is a sign that she is about to litter her young once anytime soon.

One of the interesting things about rabbits that is about to liter is that there know how to make good preparations before kindling.

Kindling is the process of giving birth in rabbit and this process takes place mostly at night or during quite times when there is no disturbance of some sort.

It takes between 30-32 days for the rabbit to kindle and usually of the 28 day I do introduce the nesting box into her cage for her to kindle in.

And the rest of the work is up to the female rabbit to do her part by making preparations.

She prepares her nesting box by pulling out fur from her body and place them in the box, this is to provide warmth for the new bunnies when there come.

And the amount of fur she will pull out will depend on the weather conditions at that time, the hotter the temperature the lesser the fur she pulls and the colder the more fur she pulls out..

Must time some rabbits don’t bother pulling out their fur, at this put you will have to step in by helping her put in some materials to provide warmth for the new born either by putting clean cloth, or shredded papers etc.

So, once every thing is set, then she will now kindle in the nesting box.

I had a experience when a rabbit gave birth outside the box, I had to help her take the bunnies into the next box after she had finished kindling, there aren’t aggressive as most other animals would if you try to touch their new born..

Interesting stuff! When you had to transfer the newborn kits into the nesting box that time, the mother must have trusted you to be gentle with her babies. That's nice. How are things going today for this rabbit?
