THE BASIS OF SUCCESS IN DISTANCE EDUCATION IS AND WILL BE: EMPATHY
From this perspective, the center of the educational mission is the ability to donate that the educator demonstrates in his daily action: his transparency, his humility, his availability, his testimony, his desire to improve and grow to serve the students. That is why when it comes to educating true teachers we do not look at limits and we embrace a very significant word for our teaching work called: Empathy.
Empathy is of utmost importance in education and it helps to promote and improve the ways of learning in the students
Education needs to be emphatic and promote empathy in all its dimensions, whether in face-to-face or distance classes and I believe that most of all distance empathy should be used because the basis of success in distance education is and will be: empathy
An excellent alternative to promote or generate empathy with students in distance classes is to have a digital platform that supports both them and teachers, project contexts or content in videos and disseminate it, also support with visual material and have a forum in a social network that is more accessible to students, this with the intention of promoting meaningful learning and motivating them in the new distance stage that we are building.
Today, when distance education has become an essential option due to current events, empathy must be reciprocal in all: teachers, parents, representatives, students, educational community, government entities ... in order to maintain possible success in these circumstances that the life has imposed on us.
Currently the world lives in chaos in all areas of society and everything seems to have been forgotten, there are few who still retain the most elementary values to put them into practice I believe that empathy is one of the most worthy values of a person but unfortunately, the Empathy is often not taken into account in the sectors of life and the school is no exception because today many face-to-face or distance schools that have left behind such an important value for education and it is of the utmost importance to have it, on all with the global contingency that we are experiencing.
The empathy of teachers in education is deeply understanding the personal and social situations of students, feeling care and concern in response to their emotions and responding with compassion without losing focus on student learning.
Studies have shown that an empathic society is much more permissive and tolerant, more respectful of the rights of all and is based on acceptance and respect for all.
¿Why educate in empathy?
Educating in empathy is essential to foster relationships, cooperation and mutual support, because when we really practice empathy in our capacity as teachers and as human beings, we allow our students to learn to learn, in addition to promoting the importance that they have for us. teachers since on many occasions what the student is experiencing at home or in his personal life is not taken into account, without thinking that for any of these reasons he is not learning correctly or simply paying attention.
Now that we are out of the classroom with distance learning, we teachers are forced to be more empathetic with our students because we were not really used to guiding our students with daily content through the networks and it may be the case of that many students may lack the tools necessary to fulfill their learning or also the skills to understand the messages or the contexts sent which can affect their learning.
If you learn to handle empathy correctly, you will be a better teacher and a better human being and this will really be an example for our students to follow.
The world needs empathetic human beings to make this world a better society and have better people.
