At Hobnob Coffee

I can't even remember the last time I had a proper bowl of noodles, if I had to take a guess, then it'd be probably around 2009 or 2010. That's surely a long, long time; yet, the wait was worth it though, because it seems that our local restaurants surely have upped their game.

Hobnob's special Chong Qing Spicy Noodle is the one I tried, and it was perfect in every way. It's been just over 2 years since I've last visited Hobnob, but last time I went for a rice palatter instead. This restaurant is owned and managed by my father's friend, who's originally from China, and we used to visit regularly, but that was all before Covid.

However, yesterday at around 8PM I headed out to attend a little one on one meeting in Uttara. And this was me stepping out of the house after almost 10 days. After resting a ton, while devouring 3 to 4 types of medications a day, while also getting my diet back on point again, I was finally feeling a bit better.

On top of that, during these past 4 to 5 days it's been raining all day, which surely is a blessing.

So, when I saw a little window of 0 rain, I finally chose to get rid of our little face to face meeting that was pending for quite a while. Sure, it could've been done on a video or audio call too, but I really wanted head out, get some fresh air and get something to eat too.

And no matter how much we push the idea of WFH, digitalization, decentralization, yadayadayada...

Nothing really beats a good ole face to face meeting every now and then.

This bowl of Chong Qing Spicy Noodle was actually served for 2, but I got to know that after I had already devoured the whole bowl lol. And it wasn't even that spicy, but it surely was yummy, especially the broth.

From the looks of it, the well made noodle soup was seasoned with vinegar, red chili oil and scallions. Topped and filled with chicken, beans and meat sauce, and lot more. I wasn't really sure how it would taste, but it surely looked the part in the image displayed on the menu.

So, without much hesitation I simply went for it according to the looks itself haha. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed and my money didn't go to waste.

With all the charges, VAT and everything, it cost me around $4. Which is quite cheap I'd say, because it can easily be shared by 2 people who have a normal appetite. And after all, this wasn't the usual "Bangla Chinese" restaurant, many consider Hobnob's food to be "authentic" Chinese, and most things authentic in our region is usually overpriced.

After a colossal clusterf*ck of 2 weeks it really felt good to finally head out and clear my mind.

The first week was a juggling act of multiple tasks, both mental and physical, on top of that we had the unbearable heat. The second week it was mostly about survival and taking it easy under the shelter of my own home, while the streets of Dhaka got flooded by heavy rain.

Next week though, the show begins once more, which will be more like a circus, if I'm being honest.

Yet, whether it's a fancy opera or your local circus, the show must go on.

I'm not one for super spicy and chilli type food, but I can't deny that looks freaking delicious. Taking a gap in the rain often leads to great things, especially after your clusterfuck time before hand.

Now I'm off to raid the fridge 😁

Spicy food keeps me going haha. I love it! And this dish surely was one of a kind, it tastes just as good as it looks.

Yeah, it was a much needed break, but from tomorrow the f*ckery starts again. 😬

Now I'm off to raid the fridge

80% of the time my fridge is just empty. 😂

I know, tell me about it. The fuckery has already started on this side too. It sucks, but hey, it could be worse, right?

Hahaha I laughed at that Gif - I never close the fridge that fast, there is always investigating to do and almost always leftover to demolish.

Can you make that dish yourself? I need to look up a recipe and give it a go.

No matter how fuckety fuck fucking it gets, we all need it every now and then. All this fuckery keeps things interesting, makes life worth living. 😂

I just do a quick scan from top to bottom, and 9 out of 10 times there's nothing there. 😬

Instant ramens are easy, but these fancy ones have a lot of add-ons and take a lot of time to prepare. My wife knows how to make a proper bowl of ramen, but that's after she's quickly zoomed through YouTube for a bit guidance. 😂

Your variety in the usage of the word fuck makes me chuckle 😂

YouTube is like fucking gold in that regard. I don't know how many times it's saved me from making shitty food and turned something really basic into something tasty. I think your wife has the right idea.

A few days ago I decided I was going to make green Thai curry from scratch. I haven't made this in years and to be honest, I had forgotten most of the ingredients. Without some suggestions of things to add from the interwebs (like chopped up garlic chives and Cayenne pepper) it would have been pretty darn boring.

When it comes to cooking up words and a bit of fuckery, I believe I have achieved a Masters degree a long time ago. Now I'm slowly working on getting that PhD. 🤔

Whether it be studies, work, entertainment, or even cooking, YouTube undoubtedly is the savior. Kids, teens and adults too, we all now rely on YouTube, it has become a habit of some sorts. 😂
